Day 5 of 31: Chandelier Skulls

Greetings! It's Day 5 of the 31 Days of Halloween. Today I have one of Stampendous' creepiest images. It's called Chandelier Skulls, and I have a feeling many of you will really dig it. My full tutorial on how this card was made is below. I am entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp current Monday Challenge which is "A Walk on the Dark Side."

Supplies:
Stampendous:
P305: Chandelier Skulls
DCP1006: Fitted Frames Set B
FREG026: Aged Black Embossing Powder
MPW811: Mixed Media White Paper

Other:
Imagine: VersaMagic: Sahara Sand and Wheat, VersaMark Ink, irRESISTables in Love Letter, Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black, VersaColor in Pinecone
Tombow Dual Brush Markers: 856, 837, N25, N95, 090, 990, 942, 025
Kraft Cardstock
Scrapbook Adhesives: Black Foam Squares
Ranger: Ink Blending Tools

Directions:
1. Stamp the image with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black.

2. Color the image with the Tombow markers listed below.

3. Die cut the image with the small "P" Fitted Frame.

4. Sweep Wheat VersaMagic ink across the outer edges of the stamped image.

5. Repeat with Sahara Desert VersaMagic, inking heavier as you get closer to the edges.

6. Using an Ink Blending Tool, apply Pinecone VersaColor ink to the very edges of the image.

7. Create the card base out of Kraft cardstock, cut to the size 5 1/2" x 8."

8. Apply VersaMark to 2 sides of the card base.

9. Sprinkle on Aged Black Embossing Poder and heat set.

10. Repeat steps 8 & 9 to the other two sides of the card base.

11. Spritz the card base with Love Letter irRESISTables and let dry.

12. Sponge Pinecone VersaColor ink to the card base to darken it slightly.

13. Apply the stamped layer to the card base with Black Foam Squares.

Wow! I love your card. The aged black embossing around the sides of the card sets off the image of the Chandelier Skulls. How creepy cool.

Such a beautiful image and I love the whole card!
WOW to the third power!! I was just drooling over your crow plaque and now I see this gem! I really think it's cool how you pair things in unexpected ways. What an original concept here and the embossed edges were totally unique and perfectly Halloween-y. Thanks again for sharing your inspiring work with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
