Lilac Lustre Filly

Greetings! Today I am sharing a card that features the gorgeous Lilac Lustre  Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . The opalescence and holographic qualities of this blend is amazing. You don't need to use a lot to get a ton of shine and beauty.   Some time ago, I had made a bunch of backgrounds with Distress Oxides. I was just having so much fun playing with them, that I just played with the inks for a while, just covering sheets of cardstock to use at a later date. This is one of the backgrounds I had made. To be honest, I don't recall all of the Distress Oxides that are on this, but there is certainly Wilted Violet and Antique Linen. There's a blue shade too....I think it's Faded Jeans. Anyway, I go through these backgrounds from time to time to see what I am inspired to work with and this one screamed Lilac Lustre to me. I went through my stamps, knowing I didn't want something too thick and heavy that would cover up the background, and I ca

Feline Christmas

Hello! The Stampendous Design Team has been giving some sneak peeks to some of the new stamps that will be in the July catalog this week. Today, I am sharing one of the new Laurel Burch stamps, called Feline Christmas . I really like this stamp, and I loved coloring it. Mermaid Scales are Super Duper

Hello! I've got another fun shaker card to share with you today. I really love the versatility of the How You Bean jar from Lawn Fawn, because you can fill it with pretty much anything and it will look fantastic. For this particular version, I decided to go with Mermaid Scales Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. This particular blend was released previously, but it is still available. I chose this blend, because the recipient loves blue and I really like the contrast with the shades of green. The colors of the Sparkle Blend helped me choose the colors for the rest of the card. I used Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Time Holtz stencil for my background. I paired it with some Coordinations canvas cardstock. Here's a closer look inside the shaker. I added some stars from Lawn Fawn's add-on shaker die set for How You Bean?. They add a little bit of a cute factor that I love. The jar and lid were colored with only 3 Zig Clean Color Marke

Spring Fling Sparkle Blend

Hello! I've got a shaker card to share with you today that features one of the newest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground . It's called Spring Fling and it's got shades of purple, yellow, pink, a little blue, and opalescent bits in it. It's a lovely mix of sizes too! This card was made for one of my daughter's teachers, so I decided to color this Always the Flower Girl from Tiddly Inks to look like my little girl. Because I printed the  Tiddly Inks image about 3 1/2" tall, I knew I wanted a single shaker that was large enough to stand out. I used a square Fitted Frame from Stampendous, because the simple yet fun shape is perfect for pretty much everything. I backed the shaker with a pale yellow patterned paper, since I like to add an additional pattern wherever I can. It has just  subtle splotches, but it has more interest than just plain yellow. I colored Always the Flower Girl with my Tombow Dual Brush Markers. My daughter would absolutely w

Live Each Day featuring Limonade

Hello! Today I have a card featuring the new Limonade Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. Normally, I am not into very citrus-y colors, but there's something about the Limonade Blend that I really like! I guess that's why I've used it twice this month already. For this card, I used the beautiful Live Each Day stamp from Stampendous and I colored it with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. I die cut the Image with the coordinating Fitted Frame and then set it aside to make my background.  I blended two colors of Distress Oxides to make my background. Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber. The Distress Oxides blend together so beautifully, that they created that lovely orange shade in the middle, which made the transition of colors seamless. I splattered the background with water to get the droplets of oxidized colors. The base of my card is brown cardstock. The Limonade Sparkle Blend has multi-sized sequins in it, and I especially love the fiery opalescent orange.

Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop: Dinosaurs

Hello! It's time for the June Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop! This month's theme is "Dinosaurs." Beth, from Beth Duff Designs was once again very generous, and let us use her Rawrsome digital stamp set for this hop. My daughter and I each made a card for the hop. Here's mine... I decided to go with pastel dinos because, why not? I usually see them in earth tones, so I wanted to shake things up a bit. I colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers. I also used a Tim Holtz Stencil with some Distress Oxide Inks for my background. Here's my daughter's card. She went with the bold colors of Memento Markers. I especially love her rainbow dinosaur! And I think it is hilarious that she has one dino riding the back of another. The inside has the rest of the dinosaurs. I love her card. Her script (which she is so proud of), her misspelling of "birthday" because she was concentrating so hard on her script, the way she colored all of the dinosaurs...e

Seahorse Double Shaker

Hello! This month, Doodles Paper Playground came out with FIVE brand new Sparkle Blends! Today I am sharing a card with one of the newest Blends, as well as an older (but gorgeous!) Blend. For this double shaker card, I worked with the new Limonade Sparkle Blend and the lovely Mermaid Scales . Limonade has a citrus color palette of soft yellow, lime and deep green, gold, and opalescent. The combinations of these colors, plus those from Mermaid Scales is what inspired me to color the Seahorse from Aurora Wings as I did. To color it in, I used Zig Clean Color Markers. Here's a closer look.  I die cut the colored seahorse with a Fitted Frame from Stampendous. I used one size smaller Fitted Frame to use as a mask, which I placed over the colored image that allowed me to cleanly ink up a border with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. My background was made with Tahiti Kalediacolor Ink from Imagine. I swiped the inks across a large acrylic block, and sprayed it with Ink Potion No.

Flower Pizazz

Hello! Today I have a card to share that has a really beautiful focal stamp and not much else, so this is a pretty quick card to put together, depending on your coloring speed. I love the size and design of this Flower Pizazz stamp from Stampendous. I have used it a number of times on cards, and it really has quite an impact. I'm entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge " All Things Bright & Beautiful.
