Painted Peony

Hello! Today I am sharing a new card that features the Spring Fling Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . In my last few posts, I have mentioned how I can't wait for the last bit of Winter's cold to blow on out of New York, and today is no different. The sequin colors of Spring Fling are so cheery! I decided to also work with the gorgeous Fresh Peony stamp from Stampendous . I started off by applying gold embossing paste to my black card base by using a palette knife and the stencil that accompanies the Fresh Peony stamp set. I didn't smooth out the paste like I usually do, I kept it a little textured. Next, using hte same cardstock I used for my base, I stamped the peony and 2 sets of leaves with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder. Then it was time to paint! I painted the flowers and foliage with my FineTec pearlescent watercolors . You can see how shimmery and beautiful the colors are. In person, the colors are even

Sprite Delight with Aurora Wings

Hello! I am excited to be sharing my second official project on the Aurora Wings Challenge DT. Challenge #65 is " Sprite Delight. " The Sprites are the reason why I fell in love with Aurora Wings in the first place. They are all so adorable, detailed, and expressive. Well, I recently got a Silhouette Cameo, and as I went through my Sprite collection for this challenge and saw the Pineapple Sprite , I knew I just had to use my Cameo to cut out a pineapple card. I colored this sweet Sprite with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and then found cardstock in my stash to coordinate with the colors I used. Then I did a search online and found this PERFECT free Pineapple Mini Book SVG file  by Kim Watson to cut the card out. It was exactly what I was looking for! The "Greetings" I created myself with a font I had. I'd like to note, that I cut a second piece of the solid background, so that I could create my card back with it. I just scored it about 1/4" fr

Wishing You Luck

Greetings! Today I have a new shaker card featuring the Shooting Star Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. I made this card to give my husband a bit of encouragement on a difficult day. I had just recently gotten the beautiful Luna the Halloween Cat stamp set from Hero Arts (I've wanted this set since October), and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it. I used the stretching version of Luna as my jumping off point. I stamped her with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink from Imagine , and fussy cut her out. The die I used for my shaker window is from the Stampendous  fresh Peony Cutting Die Set . I knew this was the perfect Sparkle Blend for this card, because of all the black, gold, and hints of opalescent sequins. It has a very cool vibe to it, and works really well for masculine cards. My sentiment is also from the Luna set, and I embossed it with Champagne embossing powder. My top layer is gray, and I splattered Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz , Tuxedo Bla

Shaker Cat

Greetings! Today I have a new card for Doodles Paper Playground . I decided to make a shaker card, and I did it in a way I haven't attempted before. It took me a little time to get everything just how I wanted, but when it was finished, I was really happy with it. I used the Rosey Gold Sparkle Blends for this card, which I think worked out great with the colors of my background. This particular Sparkle Blend has lots of pink and rose gold sequins, plus teeny little sequins, crystals, and micro beads. I especially love the big pink stars! I really wanted to use the Laurel Burch Tribal Cats stamp set, because the dies would cut out a nice big window for my shaker area. I started off by die cutting my black cardstock with the 3 pieces of the cat. Then I cut a piece of acetate (from the packaging of a stamp) and temporarily adhered it to the back of the black cardstock. I set my cat head up on an acrylic block, inked it with StazOn ink and flipped the cardstock and acetate combo

Floral Hello

Hello there! I am very happy to announce that I will be staying on as a Doodles Paper Playground Designing Diva. I had so much fun last month as a guest, so I was thrilled when the team was asked to become a bit more of a permanent fixture. There is no new release this month, so the other Divas and I will be sharing projects using the pre-released selection of Sparkle Blends. Which, is not a bad thing, because there are so many beautiful colors and objects in each of the blends, you're sure to see something new each time you check out a project! Today, I am featuring the Unicorn Sparkle Blend, which may very well be my favorite of them all. There are so many amazing colors, including lots of opalescent sequins and gems, plus a ton of totally adorable and impossibly small Fimo pieces. Today I saw a bow, smiley faces, pizza, and an adorable purple cat when I poured the blend out to work with it. Next time I am sure I'll find something else! Check it out! Not a single stamp w
