Here’s my project:

Sweet-1

I went with a bit of a different technique for coloring in “Becky.” I used an old baby food jar cap and made a circle over part of the image. Inside the circle are the only parts that I colored in (with my colored pencils). I really like the effect. It brings your eye right to Becky sucking on that candy cane! Sugar rush much?

Sweet-2

Here’s a close up. You can click on any of my images to see them bigger. I love her hair. She has funky beads in it. Pretty cool right?

Sweet-3

The “Sweet” is from the Teen Style Sayings from Smeared Ink. I embossed it, and the border of the card in a super sparkly embossing powder. Overall, it’s a pretty easy card to make, once you decide where you want your circle (or whatever shape) of color to be. Then of course you need to make sure you stay within that line!

Now on to my newest project for the 31 Days of Halloween. What’s the 31 Days of Halloween??? It’s the biggest, baddest, creepiest Halloween stamping event on the web! (Or at least we'd like to think so!) It all started at Smeared & Smudged, and if you are not already a member…what are you waiting for? Join our wicked group today!

Here’s my project. I have wanted to make this for a while… I had made something similar for my Winter Decorations, but I knew it would work fabulously for Halloween too!

Ornament-1

I stamped this image from Smeared Ink’s As Death collection on to a transparency using StazOn ink. I cut it with my Coluzzle to fit into the ball, which is 3 inches wide. I punched a hole into the transparency and tied a piece of the yarn you see to it and then through the top of the ornament hanger itself so that the transparency hangs in the ball. I added a few different glitters to the bottom, just for some more visual interest, and added a fabulous skeleton ribbon I had to the top of the ball.

Ornament-2

I want to make a collection of these Wicked Balls (hmmm…maybe I could coin the name?), using all different ribbons, fibers, and of course…images!

Ornament-3

Please be sure to visit not only the Simply Betty hoppers above, but the Wicked Bloggers posted on my sidebar. You are sure to see some incredible projects from all of these super talented folks! Have an inspiring day!!!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
