Day 1 of 31 Days of Halloween

It’s here! October is finally here! It is officially my favorite month, and what better way to celebrate it then with the 31 Days of Halloween??? This is going to be the biggest, baddest, creepiest Halloween stamping event on the web (or at least we'd like to think so)! 31 Days of Halloween started last year with two like-minded stampers, Terra and Kelli, (fellow Smeared &Smudgers!)who vowed to make and share one Halloween or Day of The Dead stamped project for each day in October. They had a huge response from others who enjoyed it just as much as they did. So without any further adieu, here is my Day 1 project!

Creepy-Mom-1

This is a layout of my dear Mom at Halloween a couple of years ago. This page was originally going to be simple, with only one stamp on it…but it quickly morphed into something complicated and full of stamps! But the end result is way better then I had anticipated…and isn’t it rad when something like that happens???

Creepy-Mom-2

This was going to be the only stamp I used…it’s from Inkadinkado, and I love it. I embossed it with Purple Pearls so that it’s a little more ghost like on the deep Indigo paper. I framed it with an awesome transparent frame from Recollections and stapled it on.

Creepy-Mom-3

I decided I needed to break out the Glimmer Mist. I used Black Gold and one of their fabulous Glimmer Screens. I sprayed the screen, then flipped it over to get the opposite image on the top of the page. The “Creepy” font is from (gasp!) Martha Stewart.

Creepy-Mom-4

Here you can see the reverse. It’s a good way not to waste Mist. The designer papers I used each have foil on them, so it gives a fabulous sheen to the page.

Creepy-Mom-5

Around the photo, I stamped “look into my eyes” which is from Smeared Ink’s Lil Grumpies set. Please click on any of the photos to see it bigger.

There are some fabulous prizes throughout the month, so please make sure you check in with the 31 Days of Halloween group everyday! Here are the Wicked Blog Participants!

Terra ~ Tori~ Black Dragon ~ Jane ~ Anita Marie ~ Meredith

Sugar~ Kapree~ Kelli~ Alex~ Lynette~ Lisa~ Alison (me!)

Shelley ~Danielle~ Lady Brayton

And I need to mention, that I have not only some fabulous new images to share from some of my favorite companies, but images from a brand new company as well! In fact, I am SO excited, that I may just post a second project later today! The company is called Strange Skin…and trust me, you ain’t seen digis like this before! Click HERE to visit the store!!! Have an inspiring day!!!

Alright, Halloween! I am so pumped. I am officially bleeding black and peeing orange. I can't think of a better way to kick off the bash than with a hooded spooky mom! And those Strange Skin fellers seem to have some swell stuff! The good thing about a crowd of zombies eviscerating a poor soul is you can use that year round, not just for Halloween! I'm buying two of everything! - Jorge

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
