Brains, Brains, Candy Canes!

Hello, hello! I have a new Teen Christmas Zombie to share with you from Simply Betty Stamps . Say hello to Peppermint Brooke! I colored her with my watercolor markers...a lot of them! I layered the heck out of her. Plus I used 2 of my 4 Copics. ;) Her skin took me a while, becuase I was trying to get her decaying flesh just right. I used E40, plus a muted mossy green, and a tan. I used some Distress Inks around the edge of the image. I sponged on Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs and Peeled Paint. Nice and icky looking! I used a couple of random scraps a button, some fibers and a ticket to finish off the card. Plus my sentiment, which I made using a Just Rite alphabet stamp. Tomorrow I will have another Christmas Teen Zombie to share with you, as well as a new Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls challenge. Be sure to hop over to the Simply Betty Stamps Blog to see what the rest of the DT has made. By the way, thank you so much for all of the kind words you left for Rhiannon the other d...

Secret Sister Card: Day 23 of 31 Days of Halloween & SBS Day 7 of 12

Hello! How did you like the hop from yesterday? Good luck to all of you that hopped and have the chance at winning those great prizes! One of the Facebook groups I’m in decided to have a Secret Sister Halloween/Fall Swap. We were to make or alter something for our Secret Sister in either the theme of Halloween or Fall. My SS chose Halloween, which was great with me! I made her a card using Beatrix the Witch from Simply Betty Stamps (and a pendant which you will see another day). Beatrix is one of my all time favorite SBS images, as she is part of the Steampunk Halloween collection (which you have all read me rave about). Today is Day 7 of the SBS 12 Days of Halloween ..the theme is “7 Pumpkins Glowing.” Beatrix’s pumpkins certainly are glowing! I colored her with my pencils, keeping her colors pale and soft. She just doesn't “look” (in my mind’s eye) like she should be wearing black or some other dark color. Though I do plan on giving it a go one of these days. My Secret ...

Summer Themed Blog Hop!

Greetings! It’s July 2nd, and Summer has kicked into high gear. It’s a Holiday weekend, and what better way to start it off then with an awesome blog hop?! The theme is 4th of July/Summer, so there were a billion options! I haven’t had time to work with my beloved Sweet Pea Stamps lately, so I decided to bust ‘em out and use one for this hop. Before we get to my project though, please note that I will have the entire hop list posted here. And, there are a whole lotta prizes to be won! So please be sure to visit everyone along the hop and 'leave us some love…because you may be one of our lucky winners! On to my card… This Sweet Pea image is called Unregrettable Pirate Life. And I just love it. I have used this one a lot. I colored this lovely mermaid pirate with my watercolor markers, and 2 Copics (for her skin). I kept her in red, white and blue for an Americana feeling. It’s subtle though because of the various background colors I used. I think it’s very Summery! Isn’t she...

Bombshell Hump Day Hop & Jude and the Rockers Preview Day 4!

It's a big day today! Not only is it Bombshell's Hump Day Hop (which is now one of my favorite days of the month!), but it is day 4 of Simply Betty Stamps Jude and the Rockers preview! You are in for a big treat with both stamp companies, so I really hope you'll visit all parties involved! Let's start with the hop. For this month's Bombshell Stamps hop, I decided to go with a theme that is close to my heart. Pirates. Here's the challenge: Aaaarrrggg!!!! In honor of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean flick, and the start of Summer (cruises and such...work with me here, folks) I decided what better theme than pirates! More like the phrase "Shiver me timbers!" Now, I am thinking pirates...but what do YOU think of when you hear that phrase? I used my beloved pirate from Pirate's Life , plus some of the smaller (yet still awesome!) stamps from the Hula Girl set. I love creating backgrounds with those little stamps. I was inspired by my June Sk...

Growing Love: Version 3

I have a 3rd version of one of my favorite Sweet Pea Stamps to share with you today. It’s called Growing Love by ching chou kuik. I made this card for a friend of mine that just welcomed her son into the world. Plus, this month’s Smeared & Smudged Guest Designer, Helen, has challenged us to create something for the theme “New Life.” Well, this couldn’t be more perfect for that challenge! I just can’t get enough of this image! And thankfully, I am super inspired to redo it in lots of different ways! I love her hair in this version. I used my watercolor markers again for everything but her skin. I also used some Platinum Liquid Pearls to add some shine and dimension. The sentiment is also from Sweet Pea Stamps. I shredded the edges a bit for more dimension…and we all know I love me some distressing! This challenge will actually be running through the month of May, for a total of 6 weeks to play along. So put on those thinking caps, and start working on your New Life project! The...

Flower Power and Metal Mania!

Wacky title, huh? It needs to be, because not only am I bringing you the latest StampInsanity Challenge, but today is also the monthly Smeared & Smudged Member Blog Hop! Shall we get this party started? This week’s StampInsanity Challenge (#55) is Flower Power. I went a route that I’m betting you may not have pictured. As promised yesterday, I broke out the Distress Inks once again and colored up Vampire Henry. Take a look! I just didn’t feel like goin’ with the pretty route. I was inspired by Henry’s rose, so I broke out my DCWV Immortal Love Stack and used the rose paper for my background. Here’s a close up of my coloring job. I right like the way this came out! Of course, the senti is also from StampInsanity! I LOVE this sentiment! Time for you to play along with the Ward 2 Groovy Gurlz! Show us your Flower Power! And on to the next… Today is a sad day for me. It marks the 1 year Anniversary of the death of Pete Steele…the frontman to my favorite band, Type O Negative. I sti...

Smeared Ink End of Term/New Release Blog Hop

Today I bring you a very exciting Blog Hop! Not only is Smeared Ink releasing several new digi sets today (plus a few singles), but it is also the end of this term for the Design Team. We will be saying goodbye to some of our friends, but hello to some new ones. Our very special Guest Designers have also joined us for the hop! So let’s get this party started! I was given an image from this set to work with. Can you guess which one??? I was given the phoenix to work with! Hmmm…wonder why??? wink! My Phoenix was super excited when I showed him the image. He wants to color one in for himself. But, here’s my version! Now, in addition to working with a brand new image…Kelli and I challenged the DT to use at least 2 other Smeared Ink sets in their creations. We love to show off the versatility of these stamps…and how well the sets all work together. I was able to use 3 other sets for my card. The “Fire God” (originally Goddess) is from the Elementals collection, the grid is from Quoth the ...

Glam Vamp Ann Marie

Happy Friday! I have a short-n-not-so-sweet Smeared Ink post for you today. Why the short? Because we are the proud new owners of a puppy! After all that happened to us in the last few months, we thought that a pup would be something to really help us get through it all. Now if only she’d stop peeing in the house! ;) Why the not-so-sweet? Because I am using Ann Marie, one of the Smeared Ink Glam Vamps. I colored her using my markers and pencils. Then I took some kraft card stock and stamped the “Bite Me” from Smeared Ink’s Teen Style Sayings set. Clear embossed it. Then I took my Martha Stewart drippy stencil (originally made for decorating cupcakes), and used some Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist to make the background pop. The mist doesn’t stick to where the embossing is, which I think looks really cool. You can see the shine and glimmer from both the mist and the embossing powder here. You can click on any of the pictures to get a closer look. I am entering this card into this week’...

Capricorn, Simi, and a Chick with a Gun

I am so excited to share my post with you today! As most of you know, Friday is my day to share a Smeared Ink Creation with all of you. I broke out 2 of my favorite sets this week for one card. But in addition to that, I am proud to share with you a new release from Sweet November! I am honored to share Capricorn with you…two very different versions, actually! So, let’s get started! I was thrilled when I heard from I stayed true to the earthy colors of Capricorn. Our colors range from black to grey to brown to green and blue. So I used a little of everything here! I also took notes from Amy’s cards from the week (I hope you have seen them…they are ALL stunning!). She has this lovely way of scattering her rhinestones on her cards…I mimicked that look because I fell in love with it. Isn’t she pretty? I colored her in with my beloved colored pencils. Aren’t her horns fab? I have horns similar to these (though they are a bone color) that I wear to the Ren Faire every year (yes…and times ...

I Was Made for You…Macabre Monday #77

As many of you know, I try to play along with Macabre Monday over at Haunted Design House as often as I can. I squeezed in some time to create a card for their latest challenge… Dr. Death . We had to make something with a medical theme. I immediately thought of some of the rad images I have from Strange Skin . And this is what I came up with. I used one of my absolute favorite images from them, the Bride of Frankenstein Cameo. I think she’s gorgeous. I colored her with colored pencils and my watercolor markers. Here’s a close up. I accentuated the pieced together look by making her skin all different colors… like she really was made up from different creatures. She also has quite a weave going…lots of different colors. You can click on any of the pictures to get a close up. The screw heads on the side are from Smeared Ink’s Urban Decay collection. Yup, the same ones I just used in Friday’s post! Screws are SO versatile!!! I hand wrote the senti, making it a little scratchy. The 3 ...

Making the Most of your Bombshell Stamps: A Tutorial

With all of my stamps, I am always looking for new ways to reinvent them. Giving them a fresh new look makes me feel like I have a new set of stamps to play with! I was going through my Bombshells , and I noticed that I could swap bodies around a bit. This is not a gory project- I promise! ;) To start, you need Butterfly Queen and Bombshell Angel. What we are going to do is put Angel’s head and torso on Butterfly Queen’s legs. So, you don’t need to stamp out the entire image of either. I have made two versions of this “morph,” which is why I have two of each Bombshell. Color in the skin and the hair. I used pencils for that. You will notice that on Butterfly Queen’s image on the top right I did not color in her belly. You can click on any of the images to see it bigger. Next, color the outfits. Please note that I completed the line across Angel’s body. She is now wearing a crop top. On the green version of Angel, I colored her outfit in completely. I used watercolor markers for the...
