StampInsanity, Help for Christian, and Day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween

Hello hello! Almost a week into October already! That’s my only problem with 31 Days…you realize just how quickly the month flies by. Today I’m in a very important hop, plus I have combined the newest StampInsanity Challenge with 31 Days. Let’s start with the hop, shall we?
Welcome to the Xander Zone!!  You are in for quite a trip through today's Blog Hop and Auction.  Our dear friend Betty Roberts, owner of Simply Betty Stamps has just found out this week that her 17 year old son Christian has Stage 1 Throat Cancer.  He will be having surgery next week and many months of Therapy to follow.  (To read more from  Betty on what’s going on please go HERE)

Betty’s DT and the Crafty Sprouts DT along with a few friends have come together today for the From the Xander Zone Blog Hop and Auction!  If you are stumbling into this hop please head to Crafty Sprouts to catch the beginning of the hop!

If you hopped here from …….then you are right on track!

As you hop along today you will see cards created with Xander, the first in a new series to be released called “From the Xander Zone”.  He is available with a donation to Betty’s family.  Christian will be undergoing Surgery next week to remove his tonsils and then the thrice weekly Therapy will begin on the tumor.  His therapy could last for many months.

There is also  a contest running through October 16th and Christian will pick a random winner who will receive the whole collection!  The details on the contest are at the SBS blog.

As you hop today you will also see many cards and projects up for Auction.  In order to make a bid on an item leave a comment on that person’s blog with your offer AND your name and email address.  Please remember that it might not be you who gets the winning bid, so check back if you really want it!

At the end of the Hop (Tuesday night October 11th at 9pm EST the auction will come to a close.  Winners will be sent a paypal invoice and the Winners will be announced on the Simply Betty Stamps blog.  Please note that we are asking for timely payment, with 48 hours of the announcement on Tuesday morning or the runner up will be chosen.  This is for the simple fact that Betty’s family needs this money as quickly as possible for all of these unexpected and out-of-pocket needs.

Here's my card. I got a bit of an assist from Phoenix, who apparently didn't think my card was finished until he added something!

It's fun and happy, especially with Phoenix's hand drawn "polka dots," as he called them. I have minimal pics today, as I am working with my sister's big, honkin' Nikon that doesn't have a Macro setting...so I had a tough time getting my pics in focus. But, if you click on this or my other 2 pics, you can see them bigger.

From here please hop over to ……Raven

If you get lost along the way, here’s the hop order!

Now, for this week's StampInsanity challenge, we were to create anything but a card. And like I mentioned, I combined this with my 31 Days project, though it's a subtle Halloween theme.

I wrote in my art journal, which has been sadly neglected. The big beautiful sentiment at the top is of course a StampInsanity digi. Purrfect for an art journal, no? I think I may use it anytime I need to just write a lot...and get it all out.

The page is about October, how I feel about it, and all of it's wondrous magic. I had some magic mesh that I inked on top of all over the page in various colors, and I (finally!) got the most bee-u-ti-ful web stamps eva(!) from Basic Grey that I have seriously coveted for 3 years. You will see a couple of them stamped in brown on the page.

So yeah...it's not overtly Halloweenie, but Halloween can be subtle! I hope you have enjoyed my offerings for today. Please be sure to visit the bloggers for the SBS hop, the rest of the Groovy Gurlz (listed in my sidebar) and the rest of the 31 Days of Halloween Wicked Bloggers (also in my sidebar). Thanks for stopping by. Have a spook-tacular day!

Cool card, I think the added polka dot strip just added to the awesomeness of it :) Great journal page, I love all the texture. You've inspired me to get my journal out, it's been neglected as well and is buried somewhere on my stamp table.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
