Ok. This is officially one of my favorite things that I have made for the 31 Days of Halloween so far! It may be one of my favorite things that I have done in a while…I hope you love it too!
So our family of 4 went to Salem, Mass. last month. My husband and I used to go every year…but then the kidlings came, and our trips were no more. But we decided that we just had to go back this year. We couldn’t take it anymore. We love it there so much, we couldn’t stand to be away any longer.
One of my favorite places to visit in Salem is the Charter Street Cemetery. It’s right next to the Witch Trials Memorial and it’s the cemetery that has “my” beloved tree. You may have seen a layout with this tree before… Actually, I posted about it one year ago! Click HERE to see that post. But I digress…
This cemetery fascinates me. I just feel so at ease there. I can’t really explain it… Anyway, I started snapping pics of the kidlings while we traipsed about, and this is my favorite one that I took that day:
A little freaky right? She looks enchanting…but in a “I’m gonna come after you while you sleep,” kinda way. Some time ago, Lady Brayton “introduced” me to Picnik. It’s where you can edit your pics online in some pretty rad ways. And it’s pretty damn easy to do if a technophobe like myself can do it! Here’s what I created on Picnik.
Please click on any of my images to see them bigger. Creepy huh??? So of course, I NEEDED to make a layout with this vamped up and creeped out image! I will do the original too, but for now…enjoy this little piece of work…
I started with a plain piece of murky green cardstock from Prism (forgot the color name…sorry!), and I inked, chalked, stamped and distressed the hell out of it! I started off with Black Ink, and Moss Green Ink (Color Box), and swiped it around 2 opposing corners. Next I took my October Tree from Inkadinkado (a true fave!), and stamped around where I was going to place the picture. After that, I added the blood splatter using my Martha Stewart stencils and K. & Co. chalk. Then I added Smeared Ink’s crow and “I’m watching you” sentiment. I still needed more though… Luckily, I found some Magic Mesh (which was just what I was looking for!), and chalked it’s negative space. Then I added some Amazing Glaze to those 2 opposing corners that I had inked originally. Punched out some blood, added a Basic Grey tag (the “Wicked” is also from Smeared Ink), a couple of staples and a coil. And my Girl’s page was done.
I had used burgundy Prism for the blood drips…but it was too stark…so I inked it up with black. See the sheen from the Amazing Glaze in the corner?
That was a big explanation, I know…but I wanted you to know all of the fun stuff that I did to this plain piece of cardstock!
Here you can see a lot of the different things I used all over the page. This layout was a blast to make! I really enjoy making pages like this. Where they are more from scratch then anything else. No kits…just me playing. And it really was so much fun to make!
