21st Century Pillow Book

Greetings! Today I am sharing a scrapbook page that I made with the June Sketch Challenge from White Rose Crafts. I challenged myself at the beginning of the year to do each of the sketches as a scrapbook page, and so far, I've accomplished that. I turned this month's sketch on it's side to make it work with my photos. These pictures are back from 2014 when we first gave my son a wood burning tool. His first creation was a phoenix, and he did a really fantastic job. So that's what this page is about. To make the page, I used a piece of purple cardstock that matched his shirt nicely. Then I chose a piece of patterned paper from Kaisercraft's Kaleidoscope paper pad to go behind the smaller photo and the journaling box. For the journaling box, I used an old piece of platinum metallic vellum that I had in my stash. I thought it went really well with the Nuvo Expanding Mousse in Worn Linen . Hello! I've got a new scrapbook page to share with you for my latest Design Team project for White Rose Crafts . Each month, we feature a specific company for about a week, and this time, it's Kaisercraft. I have loved Kaisercraft for a very long time. In fact, back when I owned my scrapbooking store, they was a company I ordered from frequently. This layout today uses a bunch of their newest products.  This photo is of my husband, about 3 years ago when we went on a cruise. This photo was taken in St. Thomas. I love the colors and textures in the photo, and I knew I wanted to create more layers, textures and add in similar colors to my layout. I first used Kaisercraft's Greenhouse paper pad as a jumping off point. That gave me some ideas on what to do with colors and other elements. I have the Greenhouse Clear Stamp Set  and I used the terrarium image with Rose Gold embossing powder to create a geometric design in the lower right corner. I love how it turned out. ...

Hello! Thanks for visiting me today. I've got a new Sketch Challenge to share with you, courtesy of White Rose Crafts . I've given myself a goal of turning each of these sketches into scrapbook pages, instead of cards for the entire year, and I've been successful so far. Here's the sketch: And here is my take on it: I came across these photos of my daughter the last time I was searching for pictures to scrapbook. I thought that they'd be perfect for this sketch. She was so happy spinning and twirling in this coat my mom had made for her. And her crazy outfit makes me smile. I lined the photos up and trimmed them to fit properly on my 12 x 12 layout. I added the strips of black to break up the photos just a little bit. My daughter and I both love mixing patterns, so, much like her outfit, I found a few patterned papers that I thought were crazy together, but also perfect. Hello! I managed to make a second scrapbook page this month! I am so happy about it, because I've got a ton of photos that I printed ages ago, just waiting to be put on a page. Typically, I work only on 12x12 layouts, but I decided to do a 6x6 today, with the hope of perhaps making an entire album in this size. This way, I can make my pages faster, and get those photos displayed in a beautiful way.  This week, the White Rose Crafts team is highlighting products from Altair Art. I have their 6x6 " Ever Dream" paper pack , and the ephemera sheet , which I really love. The colors are soft and dreamy, and i love the flowers and dreamcatchers that are on many of the pages. The background page I chose to use for this photo of my daughter is a soft pink. It's a little washed out in my pictures, but it is very soft in real life.  I kept the page pretty simple since it is a smaller scale and the background paper already has a lot going on. Hello! Today I am sharing my take on the White Rose Crafts April Sketch Challenge. I have set a goal for myself to translate each of the sketches into scrapbook pages. I haven't really had time to scrapbook at all lately, so this will ensure that I have at least 12 layouts by the end of the year. Here's my page, featuring my daughter when she was about 2. And this is the original sketch: I thought this sketch was pretty perfect for a scrapbook page, since I often take multiple shots at once. After I had chosen my photos, I picked out my papers and additional elements. I was once again inspired by Kaisercraft's Bombay Sunset 6x6 paper pad (I just can't get enough of that collection!), and I thought it worked with the colors in the photos nicely. Hello! Today I have something that I haven't done in far too long. A scrapbook page! Oh man, how I miss making these. It's a goal of mine to get more layouts made this year. I was really inspired by the February White Rose Crafts Sketch Challenge, and I am hoping to make each one this year a scrapbook page. I had this photo from a few years ago. It was springtime, and the beautiful magnolia tree in my neighbor's yard was blooming, so it was a perfect opportunity to get some great shots of my kids. This one was a favorite. I love the beautiful flowers from the Altair " Ever Dream " Ephemera Sheet, and I fussy cut several of the elements out. They coordinated perfectly with my photo. It's hard to tell, but my daughter's dress is covered in butterflies, so the butterflies on this sheet were just right for this page too. Hello! The Artists in Residence for Imagine and Waffle Flower Crafts are doing a collaboration this month, and I am so excited about it. I was sent the adorable Enveloper Little Birdie Stamp Set, and I loved using it. Upon looking at some of their other sets, and I now have a nice sized wish list going of sets I would love to add to my collection. I decided to make a layout with the Little Birdie set, because it reminded me of  the matching Marimekko dresses that my daughter and I have. This layout also works for the Imagine Color of the Month, which is Pineapple. The flowers on the dresses are very flat and only use one color. So after I stamped my images on to white cardstock with VersaFine ink in Majestic Blue, I used Memento Markers that are similar in colors to those on the dresses. And it took everything I have inside of me to NOT shade the flowers! I love to shade and blend when I color, but I really wanted to stay true to the fabric and keep the colors flat. I cr...

This is my first time playing along with this scrapbooking challenge, and I am really excited to join in with Case File #231. *This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. Here is the Case File. I thought that the Case File had so many great elements and aspects to it, and I knew I wanted to use photos from the lake that is near our home. I found some fun pictures from one of the times we walked our dogs to the lake. Looking over the case file, I was inspired by the mushrooms, and used a few from Stampendous. Hello! I am really excited to share a layout that I made using Bo Bunny and Imagine Crafts products. Imagine Crafts is doing a fun collaboration with Bo Bunny this week, and I am really happy to be playing along. The paper I was given from was just begging to be used for a Back to School Layout, so that's just what I did. I used a photo from my kids' first day of school for the 2014-2015 year. I fell in love with the Toy Box   papers I was sent. It's so bright and cheery. I decided to do a bit of embellishing on the main paper, which is called Toy Box Circles. I chose some random circles and used the Goosebumps Dauber on them. I just pressed the dauber top directly on the circles to give a nice texture and sheen to some of them. After the Goosebumps dried, I outlined the outer circle with Tuxedo Black irRESISTables Pico Embellisher.
