SISC30: Trick It or Treat It! Plus the New DT! Plus Day 7 of 31 Days of Halloween!

Whew! That’s one heck of a title! Well, this is going to be one heck of a post!!! Not only do I have an “insane” (get it???) new release from StampInsanity to share with you, but we having a revamped Design Team! If that’s not enough, I have TWO projects to share with you for Day 7 of 31 Days of Halloween! So, let's get this party started!

First, I would like to give a HUGE welcome to our new Design Team members! We have several new Groovy Gurlz, and they all rawk! We’ll be doing things a little differently from week to week now over at The Asylum. we now have 2 Wards. 2 different groups of DT members. The Wards will be taking turns with each of the challenges, but since it’s a new release day, both Wards are banding together for one huge hop! So please try to visit everyone and show them some love!

Second, let’s chat about this week’s awesome challenge! It is to: "Trick-it or Treat-it" - (like "Naughty or Nice") Have fun with either 'trick-ing' or 'treat-ing' your projects with using any of your favorite techniques or a Halloween theme, etc... I loved this one so much, I made 2 projects! One Naughty and one Nice!

But before I share my cards with you…let’s take a look at the brand spankin’ new release that is available starting today in the StampInsanity shop! Meet the Devil Dolls!

DevilDolls750x472

This is officially one of my favorite sets from StampInsanity! All of the Dolls are awesome! So now let me share with you my 2 versions of Kassandra the Witch.

Naughty-2

This is my naughty version of Kassandra. She’s a little dark and devious. She wants to scare you. And her clothes her a little skimpier than “Nice Kassandra.” I gave her a sort of Princess Leia look. Check out the close up.

Naughty-1

You’ll see the difference when you check out a close up of Nice Kassandra.

Naughty-3

I used some embossing powder to add a little bit of metallic and texture. And did you see the bats? Remember the blood splatter on my zombie box? I had used those Martha Stewart cupcake stencils for that. Same with the bats! I used chalk to color them in, since I had gotten such a great response to the chalk in my Dance with the Devil card. I am so glad I got those stencils! Now for Nice Kassandra!

Nice-1

She doesn’t want to frighten you. She’s just out for a ride on her broomstick! As you can see, I kept the layout the same for both cards. Which not only made my life easier, but it added to the Naught/Nice thing too!

Nice-2

See the difference in her clothes? I colored in the skirt on this version, whereas in the Naught version, I left her upper thigh exposed.

Nice-3

I used a pink glitter embossing powder for this card. It makes Nice Kassandra even sweeter!

Nice-4

You can click on any of my photos to see them bigger. So? Which would YOU be? Naughty or Nice??? It’s your turn to play! Well, almost. First, please go and visit all of the fabulous Groovy Gurlz! Here’s the list! Remember, the full list will always be posted on my sidebar too!

She's naughty and nice all right. So glad you pointed out the difference - helps to see different alternatives for a single stamp. I love naughty better ;)

Alison these are 2 great cards, love naughty Kassandra and thinks she resembles you with the red streaks in the front of her hair, lol. I love the way you think outside of the box with all your creations.

These are both so awesome!! I love the texture you put into the coloring - it's amazing! (jealous!) I can't pick a fave - the nice Kass is cool because she's got the devilish glint in her yey, but the soft colored clothing... but naughty Kass just rocks... both awesome! :)

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
