Father’s Day Cards

I made a sweet Father’s Day card for my husband, and I wanted to you. I got both of the images I used from Bombshell Stamps. It actually comes in a set of three for…get this…FREE!!! Yup! Totally free.What a fabulous gift for the fans of Bombshell Stamps, huh? Here’s my card:

Originally, I had printed the images pretty small (you’ll see the banners down below). I was going to just use them as accents. But then, upon closer inspection of the star, I realized that I would be a fool to not use it as the focal point of the card!

I colored this in with my EK Success Watercolor and their metallic markers, plus a couple of Distress Inks with Cut-N-Dry nibs. You all know that I loves me some rubbah, but one thing that I just lurve about digis is how adaptable they are! Like I said, the first set was printed eensy-weensy…but this star is now almost 4 inches wide! Can’t do that with the red stuff!

The flames you see in the background are from Heidi Swapp. I simply stamped and embossed them in clear. I wanted them to be subtle, so as to not take away from the star, which I pop dotted, by the way.

This is one of the banners. I photographed this before I wrote all of the mushy stuff on the inside, but I wanted you to get an idea of the size. I thought it looked pretty rad popping out from the center.

Here’s a close up. The photo is awful… I am really having a heck of a time with lighting lately. But at least you can see my shading. I used more Distress Inks here. See how far out it pops? My husband was pretty surprised to find this on the inside! He thought the whole card was super cool.

And this is the card my son made! He wanted to use the third and final freebie in this set. And didn’t he color and place it perfectly??? Ok…so I helped him color the banner a little, but he totally placed it there himself!

This is the back of his card. He loves to make cards! It’s so much fun to make them together. I hope we can always do art projects together!

You're such a good mommy!! I haven't let the little guy play with my stamps yet; although yesterday he found my Bombshell pirate girl and had her 'walking' around my stamp cave!

Great card, Alison! The image is perfect as a focal point and I love the colors! The background is way cool, too! Also, your son's card is just too precious. You have a budding artist on your hands ;D

Hello! Today I have a card that features the Mediterranean Dreams Subscription Kit from White Rose Crafts.  This fabulous Subscription Kit brings together sparkling, azure Mediterranean seas, sun-bleached shores and the rich colors of vibrant Mediterranean cultures in a carefully curated kit. I knew I just had to try the Jillibean Soup shaker card and I chose to use one of the stamps (from Kaisercraft) to make my background. I stamped the seashell with Tea Dye Distress Oxide all over the background of the card. Then I applied some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to my craft mat, spritzed it with some water, and splattered it on to my card base. Last, I inked the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Mini Blending Brush. For my sentiment, I die cut a stitched rectangle from my stash, out of the pearly yellow cardstock that came in the kit and stamped it with "Wish You Were Here" stamp from the same "Summer Splash" stamp set, with StazOn Pigment ink. Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento.
