21st Century Pillow Book

Hello! It's Day 20 of the 31 Days of Halloween. My card today was inspired by Jennifer McGuire. Do you watch her YouTube videos? She is just so clever and inspiring. So she posted a video the other day about using alcohol inks as backgrounds for cards. I've done this before, but not for some time so I was excited to do it again. I created this background on Glossy Photo Paper from Epson. I used alcohol inks from Ranger in the colors Black Soot, Eggplant, Cornflower and     . I dripped the colors on the paper and used Ranger's Blending Solution to move the color around. After that, I broke out a coffin from Bombshell Stamps and inked it up with VersaMark ink. I used Detail White Embossing Powder on the coffins. If you try this yourself, I highly recommend using small images that can melt quickly. You don't want to heat up those inks....they emit quite an odor that I am sure isn't very good to breathe in. I used one of Stampendous' new border dies on the...

Hello! It's the first Monday of the month, so I have a new Bombshell Stamps Muse Monday to share with you. I chose the Madonna Woodcut set to be featured this month by the team. Have you seen it? Check it out. I decided to work with some of the smaller images in the set. I colored all of the images with my colored pencils. Everything was fussy cut, except for the swirl stamp which was stamped directly on to my gold cardstock. Welcome! It's time for another super busy Wednesday! I have 3 projects for you today. The first is for Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge. The theme is Beautiful Blooms and we are sponsored by DRS Designs. I love daffodils. They are always so cheery. I decided to go with the more unusual coloration of white and pink, instead of the more common yellow or orange and white. I have some pink and white daffodils and they are just beautiful. I colored the image with my watercolor markers. For Bombshell Stamps, this month's Hump Day Hop theme is "Gilded, AKA Metallics." I had fun with this one! I started off with the Lucky Me horseshoe from the Lucky Bride set. I colored with with watercolor markers, and a couple of metallic markers. Then, I pawed through my Dreamweaver Stencils to see what would work well with this stamp, as I knew I wanted to use one of their fabulous embossing pastes . Hello again! It's Wednesday, so that means there's a lot going on i my little corner of Bloggy Land. I've got a new A Step in the Dark project, one for Wicked Wednesday , and of course, since it's the last Wednesday of the month, the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop. The new A Step in the Dark challenge is sponsored by Smeared Ink, and the challenge is Anything Goes. I used the beautiful Tiamat from the Women of Power set. I had so much fun with her. Hello out there! Today, I have 3 ATC's to bring you. One for the latest Wicked Wednesday , one for the new A Step in the Dark challenge, and one for Bombshell Stamps . For Wicked Wednesday, we are sponsored by A Day for Daisies , and the challenge is "On the Farm." I used the image Birds for Bree. I think she makes a very cute farmer girl! I used alcohol inks for the image, and watercolors for the background. Now, on to ASitD. The challenge is Anything Goes/Use Some Metal. We are sponsored by the creep-tastic Ike's Art . I used Witchy, becuase let's face it...I can never have too many witch digis. I colored her with my watercolor markers, and used a sentiment stamp that I had on hand. Then, I sprayed Imagine Crafts' irRESISTables on top of the image for that bubbled texture. Love that stuff! You can really see the texture of the spray here. Greetings! It's the 1st Monday of the month, so I have a new Muse Monday set from Bombshell Stamps that I am going to share. This month, I decided to go with Hawaiian Girl . I decided to use some of the smaller images to make a tag. I started off with stamping and embossing the images. Then I went and played around with some Distress Inks and my Scales  stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils . After that, I decided to experiment. I pulled out my Translucent Embossing Paste , and applied it right on top of the entire tag using a palette knife. I texturized the heck out of it, so that it would look like water. After it dried (it starts off milky white), it looks like this! Just the effect I wanted. This Translucent Paste is fun! And so is the Hawaiian Girl set from Bombshell. Hello and welcome to the June 2014 Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop. I also have a new ATC  for Wicked Wednesday . This month, the hop theme was "Red Carpet Ready," and I wanted everyone to glam up their Bombshells as if they were going to walk the red carpet. Here's what I made. I used Bombshell Angel along with the Evening Bombshell digis for her outfit. I colored her with a combination of watercolor markers and alcohol markers. I love this dress, and I want it for myself. I was inspired by the dress that Angelina Jolie wore a couple of years ago that was emerald green. It popped so beautifully against the red carpet. My background was done with my Houndstooth stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils . I applied Copper Embossing Paste to the stencil and then sprinkled some pretty iridescent glitter on to the wet paste. Greetings! I have 3 projects to share with you today. Wednesdays can be super busy, huh? I have a new piece for Wicked Wednesday , A Step in the Dark , and Bombshell Stamps . For Wicked Wednesday, the challenge is Cartoons or Comics, and we are sponsored by Alicia Bell. I loved coloring this mermaid. I played with some soft colors that I don't always use together. I colored the image with alcohol markers. I love that she is combing her hair with a fork! The new challenge for A Step in the Dark is Anything Goes and/or Zombies. Happy June! I have 2 projects to share with you today. The first is for this month's Bombshell Stamps Muse Monday, and the second is for Desert Islands Crafters Challenge . This month, the Muse Monday set is Homeward Bound. This is a set I was a bit wary about, until I started to use it. I quickly fell in love with it, and it's now one of my favorites. I decided to go in a new direction and have the ship sailing in the rain. I purposely did not ink up the sun, to add to the bit of gloom I was trying to achieve. I used a lot of grays and some creams to mute down the colors. It was all colored with alcohol markers. I also clear embossed rain drops on top of the ship, as well as on my background by using the Rain stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils . The chain is from the Homeward Bound set as well. The set has several smaller images that are so fantastic. It's one of the reasons I love to use it. My fabulous ribbon is from May Arts . I didn't glue it down too...

Greetings! It's time for the May 2014 Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! This month, the theme I chose was "A Cut Above." I wanted everyone to use lots of die cuts. To use the Sizzix, Silhouette, or any other type of die cutting tools you may have. So here's the card that I made. The Bombshell Stamps that I used for my card was Vintage Raceway (you can get it in digi and rubber form!) and King of the Road (for my sentiment).  I colored the car with alcohol markers, in colors reminiscent of Plum Crazy, one of my favorite colors that hot rods like these sometimes came in.  My fabulous dies is a complete set from Dreamweaver Stencils .
