TTIC #59: Sparkle!

It is the first Tuesday of the year, which means it’s time for the first Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge for 2010!!! This challenge was created by Margie, and I am in LOVE with it! Here’s what she wrote:

Let’s start the New Year with a bit of Sparkle! Create a project using something that sparkles or shines - glitter, bling, etc.
Comment: Share your inspiring resolutions for the New Year!

I’d like to make a lil announcement to let you all know that…

Jodi Ann of Inked Inspirations

has joined the Twilight Tuesday Design Team!!!

Please stop by and give her a big Twilight-y welcome!

Welcome Jodi!!! Well, you don’t have to tell me twice! I love all things sparkly!!!

First, I have to say, this is the toughest card I have ever had to photograph! Why? Take a peek at the black-ish looking cardstock. That’s actually a pewter mirror finish stock! See my hand in the reflection? Here’s a different view so you can see what I’m talking about…

Like I said… not easy to photograph!!! But what a fantastic effect you get when you see it in person! On to the deets…

I obviously used a Greeting Farm image- Ebony (aka Alice!). Love her. Love to color her in. She’s just so funky and cool! I use Twinkle H20’s to paint her (I have been totally obsessed with those since I started coloring in Sweet Pea Stamps’ Winter Watcher!) Here’s a close up.

She’s at a funny angle because I wanted you to see the pearlesence you get from the Twinkles. I added some Stickles to her headband and rhinestones to the skull on her shirt. She is ready for a night at the club dontcha think? Wish I could go with her!

The card itself (Lavender Ice) and the mirror stock are both from Paper Company. The animal print is from DCWV. I added a little bit o’ purple to the edge of the animal print too.

As far as my resolutions… well, I don’t normally make official ones… but things I’d like to accomplish are, toning up my belly from being pregnant (the weight is gone, now I just need to get the muscle back in shape!), allowing myself more time for my creativity, to try and grow my custom business (Etsy, scrapbooking, jewelry, cardmaking), and to just make this year 1000 times better than last year! It was pretty rough on my family, so I want us to stop suffering! New decade, lots of new changes. Here’s to 2010!

Now hop on over to the rest of the TTIC Design Team and see what they have created! Have a great day!

Very cool card! I often seem to use papers that give me trouble when I go to photograph them, ha ha.:)

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
