Rock-N-Rolla Type O Negative Layout

Post No. 2 for today! If you would like to see my latest card for the Greeting Farm Relay, please click HERE.

So Smeared and Smudged has a mess of different groups that you can participate in. Vamp Kamp, Oh the Horror, Perfect Pinups… I think it’s pretty self explanatory as to what kinda art you’ll see in each group! As a Design Team member ( yay!), each month we participate in one of these groups. This month I got Rock-N-Rolla, which is perfect for me ‘cause I’m such a metalhead! Although, I have to say, I had a tough time deciding what to do. Use a song title? Lyrics? Nah, lemme do a layout on my fave band Type O Negative! I have met them a couple of times at release parties, and I never got around to scrappin the pics.

You HAVE to click on these pictures. There’s no way you can see what the heck is goin’ on with this mess if you don’t!

Of course, I had to use green-their official color. I made an O Negative symbol at the bottom too. Sprayed the heck out of it with Black Gold Glimmer Mist, and just kinda went to town! I don’t usually make such messy pages, but this one needed to be. These guys are “rude, lewd, and crude” (their own words, mind you!) so this page needed to be a bit of that. I made it real ly graphic, adding little stories of what went down that day and song titles from the album they were releasing. Just a whole big mess of info that just would have looked silly sitting in a pretty little journal box.

I even threw in a heart beat ‘cause that’s what’s on the front cover! I’m really happy with it. I think it’s great ‘cause it’s just wacky. It’s unapologetic, like they are. Take it for what it is. Love it or hate it. Just decide and stick to it. That’s what Type O Negative is all about. You’ll note the quote at the top in bold writing:

“It is better to be hated for who you are then loved for who you are not.”

My fave quote from them. For sure. It’s so true. I totally agree.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
