May Bombshell Hump Day Hop: Celebrations of May!

Hello! It's the last Wednesday of the month, so that means it's time for the latest Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! This month, the theme I gave was "Celebrations of May." There are a lot of fun, interesting, and sometimes bizarre holidays in the month of May, so we had to pick one, and create a project based on it. So what did I do? It was May 22nd, and I had yet to pick a holiday. I just didn't have one that jumped out at me. Turns out, that May 222nd is World Goth Day. How did I not know about this holiday?!?!?!? I am ashamed to admit it, actually. But anyway, their catch phrase is "Get your goth on." So, of course I took it and ran.

I used Pirate's Life and Sugar Skulls for this card. Both sets are perfect for a goth-y type project. I jazzed up the pirate gal with a few armbands, purple hair and red eyeshadow. Which, since I've colored her, I have really been in the mood to wear. I may need to break it out and smear some on. Yes, I really do have red eyeshadow.

I colored my Bombshell with mostly watercolor markers. I used Copics for her skin.My sentiment was stamped using a Just Rite alpha stamp. And my Sugar Skulls were clear embossed. I wanted to bleach them on to the paper, but for some reason, my black paper wouldn't bleach out! Go figure.

I distressed the edges of the black paper, and of course, I needed to add some staples for hardware. Now it's time for you to hop along! Here is the full list of participants in today's hop.

Enjoy the hop! I will be back later with a new image from SBS! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Looks fabulous! I'm not so sure about red eyeshadow on real people though.

Fun card. Very "you".

ROCK ON. Had I but known about "Goth" Day...I would have pulled out my Tripp pants with all the D rings on 'em. Great card, Alison!

Love it! The Sugar Skulls look sooo cool embossed like that. Yet another reason I'm gonna have to get them. I too dig the red eyeshadow. :-)

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
