Stars, Stripes, Sea Life & Dragon Scales

Hello again! It's Wednesday, so that means there's a lot going on i my little corner of Bloggy Land. I've got a new A Step in the Dark project, one for Wicked Wednesday , and of course, since it's the last Wednesday of the month, the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop. The new A Step in the Dark challenge is sponsored by Smeared Ink, and the challenge is Anything Goes. I used the beautiful Tiamat from the Women of Power set. I had so much fun with her. And not just because she's topless. ;) I colored Tiamat with my Spectrum Noir markers. My background was made with the Scales stencil from Dreamweaver . The "Praise" is from The Symbology of Angels . She is so powerful looking..... Now. For Wicked Wednesday, we are sponsored by Aurora Wings , and the challenge is Mythical Sea Creatures. This beautiful image was also colored with Spectrum Noir markers, in my 2 favorite colors...teal and purple. I used 2 different colors of Stickles and Li...

Paint and Splatter: S&S DT Throwdown!

Hello friends and fiends. Today, I am sharing with you a project that I made for the Smeared & Smudged DT Throwdown. What's that you ask? Well, you can check out the rules  HERE , but basically, it's a bunch of teams that are pitted against each other to see who has the coolest project in a set theme. My team is the Ali Kats, and we are Kathi , G ittery Katie and moi. The theme for this first go-around is "Paint and Splatter." I love this challenge! I decided to do something I don't do too often. I made a tag. The Ali Kats knew we wanted to do at least one project featuring our Bombshell Stamps , (that's what brought us together, after all!) and what better way to kick off the Throwdown? I went with my favorite (and first) Bombshell, Pirate's Life . And I vamped her up. A lot. Mmmmmm....someone just had a big meal. Look at the smear on her arm from wiping her mouth! Perhaps she should carry a napkin, or some Wet Ones..... I used gray and a pal...

February Hump Day Hop: Some Like it HOT!

Greetings! It's the last Wednesday of the month, so it's time for the Bombshell Stamp Hump Day Hop! This month, I decided that the theme would be "Some Like it HOT!" I cannot wait to see how the other participants interpreted this theme. I chose to make an art journal page. I started off with my Pirate's Life Bombshell, and I added a few of the images from the Holiday Accessory set. I thought that my cauldron needed some smoke, so I used the flame from the Hula Girl set. I colored my images with my Spectrum Noirs and Copics. I cut everything out, and then started to play with my background. I used a combination of inks, paints, and stencils.  I also decided to add "Drink Up" from the Man's Ruin set. I loved doing the background. Though I do think it may need a few more layers....I need to work on that a bit. Pushing those layers further. But, I still think my Bombshell is hot! And, who doesn't enjoy a hot beverage? And now, it...

Day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween and World Card Making Day!

Today is a 3-fer with one all inclusive card. Not only is it World Card Making Day, plus day 6 of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween, but it is also Mad Hatter Day. The Bombshell Gals decided it would be fun to celebrate World Card Making Day. This year, WCMD coincides with Mad Hatter Day so we thought it would be fun to make projects that contain at least 1 hat. And of course, I needed to make it Halloweenie! I decided to go with the Calaveras Fiesta set. The Calaveras Fiesta set comes with 4 different hats. And I couldn't decide which of those hats to use...so I decided to use them all! Plus I added the pirate's hat from Pirate's Life . I constructed this card, by starting off with cutting out the wheel and attaching it to the card base with a brad. I made sure to keep the wheel sticking out past the card, so that it's easy to spin. When I figured out where I wanted my skeleton to be, I punched out a hole where the hats should be...

July Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop!

***I apologize for this not being up on time. I thought that I had set the time properly, and then I lost my wireless connection, and I guess it didn't take. Grrr.....and now back to your regularly scheduled blog post.  Ok seriously. Where is this summer going. This is one summer that I wanted to stretch out like a cat basking in a window sill. But alas, it is moving quickly....and since it is the last Wednesday in July, that means it's time for the always-fabulous Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! This month, my theme was "Iconic." I wanted evryone to work their crafty magic by using those itty bitty awesome little icons that come with all of the Bombshell sets. I "allowed" the hoppers to use 1 major image, but I encouraged them (no, there were no whips or chains involved), to not even use 1. All icons. Wanna see what I made? I am on a bit of a jewelry kick, which, if you know me...shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Jewelry and Christmas presents...

May Bombshell Hump Day Hop: Celebrations of May!

Hello! It's the last Wednesday of the month, so that means it's time for the latest Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! This month, the theme I gave was "Celebrations of May." There are a lot of fun, interesting, and sometimes bizarre holidays in the month of May, so we had to pick one, and create a project based on it. So what did I do? It was May 22nd, and I had yet to pick a holiday. I just didn't have one that jumped out at me. Turns out, that May 222nd is World Goth Day. How did I not know about this holiday?!?!?!? I am ashamed to admit it, actually. But anyway, their catch phrase is "Get your goth on." So, of course I took it and ran. I used Pirate's Life and Sugar Skulls for this card. Both sets are perfect for a goth-y type project. I jazzed up the pirate gal with a few armbands, purple hair and red eyeshadow. Which, since I've colored her, I have really been in the mood to wear. I may need to break it out and smear some on. Yes, I real...

Bombshell February Hump Day Hop! Leap into Action!

Greetings on this very rare 29th of February! Do you know anyone that has a birthday today? I knew a guy back from elementary school who does. I wonder if he’s having a big celebration. But I digress. As you probably know, the last day of every month is the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop. And I am the lucky one that gets to pick the theme each month. This month, since it’s a leap year, and since the hop is actually on the 29th, I decided to go with “Leap into Action!” That means that I wanted the participants to make their Bombshells into heros. There are many types of heroes. Firemen, policemen, nurses, super heroes, and advocates, just to name a few. I decided to go the super hero route with mine. How cool super rad does my Pirate’s Life Bombshell look? Don’tcha just love her Bat Girl costume? You can snag it for yourself! My friend Anita , and fellow Bombshell fan, drew this little number up and shared it on the Bombshell forum. HERE is the link. Be sure to thank Anita for it...

Bombshell Hump Day Hop & Jude and the Rockers Preview Day 4!

It's a big day today! Not only is it Bombshell's Hump Day Hop (which is now one of my favorite days of the month!), but it is day 4 of Simply Betty Stamps Jude and the Rockers preview! You are in for a big treat with both stamp companies, so I really hope you'll visit all parties involved! Let's start with the hop. For this month's Bombshell Stamps hop, I decided to go with a theme that is close to my heart. Pirates. Here's the challenge: Aaaarrrggg!!!! In honor of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean flick, and the start of Summer (cruises and such...work with me here, folks) I decided what better theme than pirates! More like the phrase "Shiver me timbers!" Now, I am thinking pirates...but what do YOU think of when you hear that phrase? I used my beloved pirate from Pirate's Life , plus some of the smaller (yet still awesome!) stamps from the Hula Girl set. I love creating backgrounds with those little stamps. I was inspired by my June Sk...

Tutorial: Coloring Bombshells with Distress Inks

I am going to show you a simple tutorial for coloring in your Bombshells Stamps with Distress Inks from Ranger. You can create some beautiful effects with these inks using only a few supplies. I will be working with the Pirate’s Life set. Here's what you need: Distress Inks- I usually use about 4 or 5 colors. For this project I used Antique Linen, Milled Lavender, Tattered Rose, Weathered Wood and Walnut Stain. Cut-N-Dry-Nibs- Also from Ranger Cream Colored Cardstock- I used Butter Cream from Prism Brown Dye Ink- I used Chestnut Roan from Color Box Let's get started! 1. Stamp your image in brown onto your cream cardstock. We use brown because it's so much softer looking than black, and a dye based so that it dries quickly and doesn't blend with the Distress Inks. 2. Starting with Antique Linen, rub a Cut-N-Dry Nib in a circular motion into the pad. You'll be using this color for her skin. Test how much color you have on the Niob on a scrap piece of the same crea...
