It’s October 1st! And I Have so Much to Share!

I hope you’re in a comfy chair…because there is so much going on today! Today is of course, the first day for Smeared & Smudged’s 31 Days of Halloween. There is a new Desert Islands Crafter’s Challenge. I have a special Bombshell Stamps recipe layout. Plus, Simply Betty Stamps is having an early release on their newest line! Holy cow! Ok…let’s jump right in! We’ll start with DICC and my first Halloween project.

Karen McAlphines Itinerary

1. No White
2. Torn Edge
3. Dry Embossing
4. Fabric
5. Circle(s)
6. Beads
7. A Fish
8. Sentiment with the word “Happy” in it
9. A Tag
10. Water coloring

As always, you need to use at least 3 of the items in the itinerary. I used #’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 10. This card is also a bit of a sneak peek… It is also being used for the new Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls Challenge that will begin on October 4th. Originally, it was supposed to kick off today, but things had to change. So I wil give you the full scoop on this card on the 4th.

This is a close up of this beautiful Sweet Pea Stamps image. I used Twinkle H2o’s and my watercolor markers for it. Again, I will have all of the deets posted here on the 4th. Something for you to look forward to! :)

For my second Halloween project, I have a Bombshell Stamps recipe layout. The entire Bombshell DT was challenged this month to make 8x8 recipe pages. With it officially being October 1st, I knew I needed to make it a Halloween recipe of some sort.

This recipe (from Mr. Booze) is for The Dracula Cocktail. And I tell you what…I wish I had one right now! You can click on the pic to see it (and the recipe) bigger.

I used Man’s Ruin for this page. I vamped her up by using E40 (Brick White) for her skin, and a black shiny dress.

I made my background by using a Martha Stewart cupcake stencil of splatters and Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist, and I had a stamp that says “Count Dracula.” I only inked the latter. See the gold glimmer?

I distressed the hell out of the recipe using Distress Inks in several shades. And I added some cool bat stickers from Mrs. Grossmans. Now, how much do you like my page??? Would you vote for it? I have a shot at winning a set of Bombshells if I do! I will soon have a link here (that goes to the forum) with all of the details And, if you  like my layout the best, please vote for it. Thanks!

As I mentioned before, today is the first day for the 31 Days of Halloween by Smeared & Smudged (dreamt up originally by Kelli and Terra). Basically, I (along with many other folks) will be posting a Halloween or Day of the Dead project everyday from now until Halloween. There’s a boatload of other info, but since this is already a long post, I will direct you to Terra’s blog for everything else. What I will tell you, is that all of the Wicked Bloggers, as we’re called, are posted on my sidebar.

Simply Betty Stamps is doing an early release of their newest collection, called Jude and the Rockers Fall. There are some very serious things going on with Betty and her family, and honestly, I am not comfortable being the one to discuss them. Please visit the SBS Blog for the information.

Today, while we are releasing the entire collection for purchase, I am only sharing 2 cards with you. I will have some more tomorrow. The first one features Ariel.

Isn’t she sweet? I love her outfit and her big, beautiful sunflowers.

Check out the skulls on her sweater! I wish I had it!

The card is pretty straightforward, but I like it a lot. The colors make me feel all warm and fuzzy. Now I’d like you to see Jude and his Pumpkin Wagon.

Again, a pretty straightforward card, but super sweet!

He looks so proud of his pumpkins! Do you think he grew them himself? Or just went to a local farmer to pick them up? Either way, he’s adorable!

The ‘fall” was done with rub-ons from Making Memories. And take a good look at my background paper. See the dots? They are pearlized, and soooo pretty!

That was quite a long post! Thanks for sticking it out with me. I do hope you will go and visit all of the other wonderful blogs I’ve mentioned here today. You won’t be disappointed. But, if you go to only one blog, please let it be the SBS Blog. Betty really needs her fans right now. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
