Day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween and World Card Making Day!

Today is a 3-fer with one all inclusive card. Not only is it World Card Making Day, plus day 6 of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween, but it is also Mad Hatter Day. The Bombshell Gals decided it would be fun to celebrate World Card Making Day. This year, WCMD coincides with Mad Hatter Day so we thought it would be fun to make projects that contain at least 1 hat. And of course, I needed to make it Halloweenie! I decided to go with the Calaveras Fiesta set.

The Calaveras Fiesta set comes with 4 different hats. And I couldn't decide which of those hats to use...so I decided to use them all! Plus I added the pirate's hat from Pirate's Life.

I constructed this card, by starting off with cutting out the wheel and attaching it to the card base with a brad. I made sure to keep the wheel sticking out past the card, so that it's easy to spin.

When I figured out where I wanted my skeleton to be, I punched out a hole where the hats should be on the green paper. I attached the green paper with foam, so that it's raised above the wheel.

I colored all of my images with watercolor markers and Copics. And I kept the rest of the card pretty simple. But I did add one of the plain banners from the Banner Sayings set. The letters were stamped from an Inkadinkado set I had.

This was a lot of fun to create! And I was surprised at how easy it was to construct. Wouldn't this make a great invite for a Halloween party? I hope you enjoy World Card Making Day, Mad Hatter Day and of course Day 6 of 31 Days! Please be sure to visit the Bombshell Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team made. And of course, the entire Wicked Blogger hop list is listed on my sidebar. Thanks for stopping by. Have a creep-tatsic day!

***I had gotten a few questions about my tile from yesterday. The image was printed on to tissue paper. You need to tape the tissue paper to regular paper, so that your printer won't jam. Print on the matte side. I sealed the tile with 3 coats of Matte Mod Podge and 3 coats of Krylon Matte Acrylic Sealer. Yes, it is a totally useable coaster. It takes the condensation from glasses with no problem. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm so happy you liked my tile!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Deco Art and Andy Skinner Hop

This is a very exciting week for the Stampendous team! We are hanging out with the ultra cool Deco Art Mixed Media team, each using each other's products to share some incredible creations with you. These companies go hand in hand, so using each other's products is easy. And the results are amazing. We are of course featuring Andy Skinner's stamps, who is the DecoArt International Education Coordinator.  And yup, there are prizes! But I want you to go to the Stampendous Blog for all of that info. The link is at the bottom of the post. Now, on to my project. I made a cool wall hanging today. I started off with a piece of MDF and I drilled 2 holes, and covered it with DecoArt's white Gesso. After it dried, I used Andy's Alcohol and Media fluid Acrylics Layering Technique. You can check out his how-to video HERE . Needless to say, it's a great technique, and I loved doing it. Once I finished with the aforementioned technique, I sealed the piece w

Changes

Greetings! I don't have a project to share with you today, but rather, an announcement. I have decided to completely revamp my blog, and move it to a new site. I've been blogging at 21st Century Pillow Book for over 10 years now, and it's been wonderful. But the "Pillow Book" aspect got lost somewhere along the way. If you don't know what that is, read my description in the blog header, or do a quick search. They are really very cool. Anyway, I thought it was due time for me to work on a new blog, more of a brand, etc. So, I invite you to now join me over at alisonheikkila.com . I've still got some polishing up to do, and a whole lot of learning, as WordPress is completely different from Blogger, but I am really excited for this new site. I've wanted to do this for a long time, and I am happy to finally be getting it done. Bear with me as I figure out the best way to make it all look and flow. I thankfully have some help with that. But I think you
