Talk Like a Pirate Day! ...almost

Arrgh! It's almost Talk like a Pirate Day! It's actually tomorrow....but we gals from Bombshell Stamps wanted to start celebratin' a day early! Bring on the grog! Here's what Blog Captain Glittery Katie said on the Bombshell Blog:
Arrrrrr me hearties! Third Mate Katie here to tell ye craft lubbers all 'bout the international celebration of the bestest folk thar be...yes PIRATES cos September 19th be Talk Like Pirate Day !!
As ye can prolly tell it's all about a thinkin', a doin' and most 'portantly a talkin' like a pirate!
We 'ere at Bombshell Stamps do be a LOVIN' our Pirates and all things Piratey!!!!
So 'ere be some projects that we've been a creatin', all inspired by 'Talk Like a Pirate Day'.
I 'ope ye be feelin' proper piratey now and you be joining us in some Pirate Craftin'!!

So what did I make??? A card inspired by an old pirate's map.

Look ma, no colors! I kept it ultra neutral. Which was hard, since I love to use bright colors. I started off by tearing a speckled cream cardstock to fit on to my kraft card. Then I stamped the Pirate from A Pirate's Life, from none other than Bombshell Stamps. I added the sentiment, and inked up my Mini Punchinella stencil from The Crafter's Workshop. Then, I crumpled it up.

I uncrumpled, and began to ink, ink, and ink some more. I stamped out the ship (from the same set) and punched it out. Pop dotted it too, for even more yummy dimension on my card.

I inked the edges of the card, and added a layer of Pirate's Gold embossing powder to the top and bottom of the card.. No, really! That's what it's called! Pretty appropriate, huh? And that's pretty much it. It came together pretty quick. I guess that's what happens when you don't color anything! :) Now be sure to visit the rest of the Bombshells over at the Bombshell Blog. There are some awesome creations over there, and yer sure to be talkin' like 'em scallawags by the time yer through! Now...where did I put me grog?

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
