Day 3 of 31- Bats in the Window with Dreamweaver Stencils

Greetings, Halloween freaks (I mean that in the most loving way)! It's Day 3 of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween. Full details about this wonderfully macabre month, are on Terra's blog, which is the 1st stop in the hop. The full blog roll is in my sidebar.

Today's offering is very exciting for me, as it is the first of my 2nd stint as a Guest Designer for Dreamweaver Stencils! I love, love, love working with this wonderful group of ladies, and I hope to one day be a full team member. Hop on board the Dream Team train as we journey through all things "Mysterious & Magical" through the month of October. So if you have any Dreamweaver Stencils, then you should really play along! What a fun challenge it is! For today's project, I made a 6x6 mini page with 3 stencils.

I used the gorgeous Damask stencil (which is a favorite of mine), the Arched Window,  and the Bats.  I started off by embossing the window into dark blue aluminum, from Dreamweaver. I did this with my Sizzix machine. Then I sanded it down so that the aluminum color would show through. Then, I hand embossed the the bats and sanded them. I did them individually so that I can get them into the window the way I liked.

I purposefully hit the "glass" with the sandpaper. I liked the scratchy look, almost as if there was a reflection. I then took a piece of 6x6 cardstock that matched the colored aluminum pretty perfectly and embossed the Damask stencil with silver Embossing Paste. Also from Dreamweaver.  I applied it imperfectly, so that it would look a bit old and worn off. I added too much in some spots also, again, going for the imperfect look.

I had a Spellbinders die that I used for my senti and it's mat. The senti itself is from Recollections and was heat embossed. I also added a teeny bat that I punched and a little washi tape in the upper left corner. So...is it "Mysterious and Magical?" Would you like to see more? Aside from the fabulous Wicked Bloggers, please check out the Dreamweavers Dream Team, below. I know they will have some amazing creations for you to see! Thanks for stopping by. Have a fang-tastic day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
