Sweet Pea Kitties!

Today I am sharing with you a card I made for a cat loving friend. I can’t say who it is though…since she hasn’t gotten the card yet! It’s the first time I’ve used Purple Comfort; a Sweet Pea image from ching chou kuik. I just love these sweet kitties! Look at their teeny wings!

This picture makes the contrast between the doily and the image very obvious…but it’s subtler in person. I probably should have chalked the doily first, but…after spraying it with a ton of Glimmer Mist, that wouldn’t have been a good idea. The image was colored exclusively with Distress Inks, and I think it came out really pretty.

This photo shows the colors much better. See how much paler the image is here? I used a bit of Liquid Pearls on the cats’ wings.

Look at all that pretty glimmer! I used Patina and Tattered Rose on the doily. I hope my friend likes the card. I think she’d be happy with anything with kitties though! Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Can you tel that I had soooooo much fun with her?!? It was a blast to rework her beautiful face and turn half of her into a sugar skull. The flowers are really what inspired me to do it.
