A Day for Daisies Announcement and Left of Center

I have such an exciting announcement to share with you today! But first, if you are looking for my Stampendous! and Chameleon Pen collaboration post, please click HERE . Ok....drum roll please...... I am now officially on the A Day for Daisies Design Team!  I am so very honored and excited to be a part of this amazing team. They are one of my absolute favorite digi companies ever, and I have wanted to join their team for quite some time. I am so excited to share my first official project with you today. I also have a great new challenge for Left of Center. For my first A Day for Daisies project, we were asked to use a favorite image of ours, and use "Newsprint." I used Dragon Flight as my image of choice, and I decided to use my newsprint subtly. I colored this sweet dragon in with my Tombow markers. I used the Scales stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils around the image. I used a cosmetic sponge to lightly apply my ink color. I also used the Picasso Tool to mask off ...

Bombshell Sketch & Red, White and Blue with WW

Happy Wednesday! Today, I have 2 projects for you. The Bombshell Stamps May Sketch challenge as well as the latest Wicked Wednesday challenge, which is "Red, White, and Blue." First, here's the Bombshell project. I used Hawiian Girl and Madonna Woodcut for my piece. It's a 6x6 mini page. I started off with my Bombshelland palm tree, but after they were colored and I cut the circle, I had a big empty space....so I broke out my Sun from Dreamweaver Stencils.   I used Distress Inks and a stencil brush and it filled the void perfectly.  My stamped images were colored with Specrtum Noir and Prismacolor markers. I would like to bbe on that beach right now.  And now...for Wicked Wednesday. This week, we are sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps, and I used an image that my fellow DT'ers think resembled me. I had to agree with them. This is Oleander by Rebecca Sinz. Again, our challenge this week is Red White and Blue...but I look forward to coloring thi...

DICC with Sweet Pea Stamps

Good morning, and happy August! It's time for a new itinerary with Desert Islands Crafters Challenge. This time, we are sponsored by one of my favorite stamp companies, Sweet Pea Stamps. They have SO many stunning and magical images, available in rubber and digi. Wanna check out the itinerary? I think I may do something different and not share it with you! I want you to head over to the DICC Blog and see what it is! Heh heh heh. Kelli came up with it this time, and it's a good one. So good that I used 9 out of the 10 items on the itinerary! The only number I didn't use was 5. I used Sweet Pea Stamp 's   ©ching chou kuik's White Peacock Dryad  for my card. Isn't it a beautiful image? I stamped her with London Fog ink by Memento. I didn't want to use a harsh black. The image is colored with alcohol markers. I had a lot of fun with this image and itinerary. So I hope you will join us! So please head over to the DICC blog to see the list, and what...

Pirates! In the Nick of Time!

Talk about working until the last moment! Holy cow....I have been planning on making this project for a while now...but was only able to create it literally 3 hours before the submissions closed. Ok..I guess I need to back up and explain myself. This is what happens when I have a migraine. Sweet Pea Stamps was having a call for layouts using their beautiful images. And I had to participate! So I did.....but once wasn't enough! You were actually allowed to submit up to 3 layouts. But, as time would have it...I only am going to be able to do 2. I'll make the 3rd eventually...I even printed out the photos. But it will have to wait. My family and I threw my mom a surprise party a few years back. Looking at the age of my kidlings in these photos, it was almost 4 years ago! My mom is just plain nuts about pirates. And we have actually thrown her a couple of pirate parties. So this was one of them. Look at how teeny my babies are!!! To set off these photos, I used  ching-chou ...

Look Alikes

Hello! If you frequent my blog, then you know that I love scrapbooking. I don't often have a lot of time to do it, but it is one of my biggest passions. Well, when I saw that Sweet Pea Stamps was having a contest to incorporate their beautiful stamps into layouts. I quickly went through all of my Sweet Pea images (I have quite a number of them), and thought about which ones would work best in the photos I had. Here's what I came up with. I LOVE  ching-chou kuik's Aloha stamp. It's beautiful. But I wasn't sure if I could get a Mother/Daughter mermaid stamp to work....But, I think I did! I remembered that I had taken these photos of us a couple of month's ago during one of Rhiannon's Special Days at school (she goes to a co-op nursery school, so the parents get to participate on a rotation). I thought it would be fun to match the colors we were wearing. So, I colored the Aloha stamp to coordinate with us. I colored the image with watercolor markers ...

DICC: Sweet Pea Stamps & Bombshell Muse Monday: Harley Bikes

Happy April 1st! I have 2 projects for you today. The first is for the new Desert Islands Crafters Challenge , which is sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps. The second is for the new Bombshell Stamps Muse Monday. For the month of April, we will be featuring the Harley Bikes set. Here's the itinerary for DICC. 1 - Make it colourful (lots of colours) 2 - Sing - a - long (based on a song) 3 - Stickles 4 - Buttons 5 - Something home made (flower etc) 6 - Shiny 7 - 2 dies or more 8 - Birthday 9 - Candles 10 - Sentiment I used numbers 1, 3, 4, 9, and 10. Of course, my focal image is from Sweet Pea Stamps. The name of it is Exotic Halloween, and I LOVE this image. I colored it with colored pencils. My sentiment is from Inkadinkado. She's so cool. I have missed using my pencils. But she really needed to be colored with them instead of markers.  And this is what  made for Muse Monday over at Bombshell Stamps .  I decided to go for a super...

Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls and Deconstructed Sketch #21

It’s yet another big day in Bloggyland for me today! Not only is it Day 4 in the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween, but it’s also the day that I announce the next theme for the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop (on the Bombshell Blog) and, it’s time for a new Challenge Blog! Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls . This is The Burtonesque Dolls version 2.0.  So let’s get goin’! I gave you a sneak peek at my Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls project on October 1st. I had combined it with the latest Desert Island Crafter’s Challenge . The challenge at BBD is to create something inspired by your favorite Halloween movie or memory. This was a tough one for me, because I have so much to chose from!   Can you guess what movie this represents? The quote at the bottom of my card says, “Once in a purple moon, there is a special witch who shines above the rest.” Did you get it now??? It’s a quote from The Worst Witch, which starred Tim Curry and Fairuza Balk (among other very famous folk)...

Summer Themed Blog Hop!

Greetings! It’s July 2nd, and Summer has kicked into high gear. It’s a Holiday weekend, and what better way to start it off then with an awesome blog hop?! The theme is 4th of July/Summer, so there were a billion options! I haven’t had time to work with my beloved Sweet Pea Stamps lately, so I decided to bust ‘em out and use one for this hop. Before we get to my project though, please note that I will have the entire hop list posted here. And, there are a whole lotta prizes to be won! So please be sure to visit everyone along the hop and 'leave us some love…because you may be one of our lucky winners! On to my card… This Sweet Pea image is called Unregrettable Pirate Life. And I just love it. I have used this one a lot. I colored this lovely mermaid pirate with my watercolor markers, and 2 Copics (for her skin). I kept her in red, white and blue for an Americana feeling. It’s subtle though because of the various background colors I used. I think it’s very Summery! Isn’t she...

Growing Love: Version 3

I have a 3rd version of one of my favorite Sweet Pea Stamps to share with you today. It’s called Growing Love by ching chou kuik. I made this card for a friend of mine that just welcomed her son into the world. Plus, this month’s Smeared & Smudged Guest Designer, Helen, has challenged us to create something for the theme “New Life.” Well, this couldn’t be more perfect for that challenge! I just can’t get enough of this image! And thankfully, I am super inspired to redo it in lots of different ways! I love her hair in this version. I used my watercolor markers again for everything but her skin. I also used some Platinum Liquid Pearls to add some shine and dimension. The sentiment is also from Sweet Pea Stamps. I shredded the edges a bit for more dimension…and we all know I love me some distressing! This challenge will actually be running through the month of May, for a total of 6 weeks to play along. So put on those thinking caps, and start working on your New Life project! The...

Sweet Pea Kitties!

Today I am sharing with you a card I made for a cat loving friend. I can’t say who it is though…since she hasn’t gotten the card yet! It’s the first time I’ve used Purple Comfort; a Sweet Pea image from ching chou kuik. I just love these sweet kitties! Look at their teeny wings! This picture makes the contrast between the doily and the image very obvious…but it’s subtler in person. I probably should have chalked the doily first, but…after spraying it with a ton of Glimmer Mist, that wouldn’t have been a good idea. The image was colored exclusively with Distress Inks, and I think it came out really pretty. This photo shows the colors much better. See how much paler the image is here? I used a bit of Liquid Pearls on the cats’ wings. Look at all that pretty glimmer! I used Patina and Tattered Rose on the doily. I hope my friend likes the card. I think she’d be happy with anything with kitties though! Have an inspiring day!

My Top 10 Cards of 2010

Greetings! After kind of avoiding the computer for a few days, I am happy to bring you a mini recap of my Top 10 Fave Cards of 2010. This was started by my bloggy friend, and fellow Groovy Gurl Suzi . If you click on her name you can see all of the fab details of this Top 10 Hop. I have made a LOT of cards this year. To narrow down my favorite 10 is a tough job, because I am honestly proud of so many more then just 10. But…here are my choices, in no order. 1. This may very well be may favorite card of the year…One reason is because it uses my favorite Strange Skin digi…and because Strange Skin is my sister Pam and her boyfriend Jorge’s company! I love this card. 2. Damon Salvatore…do I really need to say much more? This digi is from StampHappens, and I LURVED coloring it in! I watched Vampire Diaries as I was coloring to make sure that I got the high and low lights of his fabulous jacket right! 3. I made this one using a free digi (for newsletter subscribers) from Bombshell Stamps...
