Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge #60: Red

Hello Blog friends! It’s Tuesday, so I have another Twilight Tuesday project to share with you! This week’s challenge is brought to us by my darling friend Erica. Here is what she wrote:

Hello everyone! This is Erica and I am bringing you this week’s TTIC project.

I love red. It is one of those colors that evokes so much emotion. Whether it be love or hate, red is passionate. When watching New Moon I just love the visual of all the people in red capes at the Saint Marcus Day Festival. Red was all around during Christmas time, and now with Valentine’s day, there is so much inspiration around.
Creative portion: Create a project either using the color red or expressing what red means to you.
Comment portion: Tell your best “red” story. Is it that great red dress that caught everyone’s attention, have you “seen” red before, anyone like Red Velvet cake? Anything goes!

I too, love red. I love to wear it, I love to see it… it is such a strong and beautiful color. I have plenty of stories that involve red… Gene and I LOVE red velvet cake… one of the tiers for our wedding cake was that flavor, and I try to make it for him from time to time. Gene loves to see me in red… he has bought me some great shirts and some fang-tastic dresses in red (that one day will look good on me again! I promise!!!). One of my fave colors of lipstick and eyeshadow (yes, eyeshadow!) is red.

Red means a lot to me… Love, power, blood… not even in the Twilight sense… blood is our life force. Well, one of them at least… but that’s a whole other story! Anyway, it is a really important color. Oh yeah! It’s Gene’s favorite color! But on to my project. I saw Beth’s sketch challenge and knew I had to partake! Here’s her sketch:

The other part of her challenge was that the project had to do be about love. Easy! Works perfect with this challenge!

Click on the photos to make ‘em bigger! I used patterned paper from Basic Grey and K & Co. The heart stamp is from Prima and the sentiment was a gifty from Tonya! It’s made by Verve. Then I just used some black cardstock. I colored the heart in with 3 of my EK Success Watercolor Markers, and outlined the sentiment with my white opaque pen from Ranger.

So there you have it! I hope you decide to join in and play along with us! Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team’s projects! Have a “crafty” day!!!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
