TTIC #38 The Honeymoon

If you did not complete the Twilight Saga… then STOP READING!!! Tons of spoilers are in this post, and I don’t want to ruin it for you. But, why the heck haven’t you finished the series yet?!?!?

This week’s Challenge is brought to us by Dani, my buddy who loves NCIS just like I do! Anyway, here’s the scoop!

I’m nothing if not thorough.
Edward Cullen, Breaking Dawn, Chapter 5, pg.78

The Challenges:

Craft – Make something that you feel represents Bella and Edward’s honeymoon.

Comment – Tell us about your honeymoon (no personal details please!). Did you go somewhere or see something special? Or did you just hide out from the world and enjoy being with your new spouse?
If you haven’t been on a honeymoon, that is ok! What is your dream honeymoon?

For my honeymoon, Gene and I went to St. Martin. It was so beautiful there. And the food…oh the food… I will never forget how my taste buds danced! We were there for 6 days, and we had such a fantastic time! We bought our first digital camera there, we ate, I bought some really cool clothes, we explored many of the beaches, we ate, explored the island in our rented jeep… and we ate.

One of my absolute favorite memories that I have with Gene is ate a restaurant (big surprise huh?) called Bliss. It was a fairly new place and it was right on the water. Like, watch where you’re going or you’ll fall 15 feet down into the ocean! Anyway, the food was to die for (I even tried crab cakes! No, I didn’t like ‘em but at least I tried it!), the music was fantastic (we actually spoke to the owner about it… when we got home we bought the CD! Putumaya’s World Groove…it’s amazing.), but the coolest, and kinda scary thing about it was the airplanes. Picture this… you’re sitting above the water, at the edge of the outdoor restaurant. All you see is black to one side of you. You know there’s water out there, because you can hear it… but you see NOTHING. All of a sudden you see 2 tiny lights. They get closer. Closer. You hear an airplane. Al of a sudden, as you take a swig of your sparkling water, an airplane flies right at you from the blackness that is the sea. I cannot describe it well enough. There’s blac, and then there’s a plane. Oh and by the way, it’s landing, so the thing is almost close enough for you to reach out and touch someone. It was as if the plane was going to land on top of us. Scary and awe-inspiring, and amazing. That night really was pure Bliss. That restaurant is aptly named.

P1010004 We’re a little crispy, but we had such a blast! I think this is actually the night we went to Bliss.

For my craft portion… I made a card that the new Mr. and Mrs. Cullen might have sent to their family, had Bella not discovered that she was spawning (as I affectionately call it!).

I used Patina Glimmer Mist all over the card and then Copper Glimmer Mist on just the bottom to represent sand. I stamped a tone on tone feather a few times and added a dash of Crystal Stickles to the center. Then I stamped Greetings from Isle Esme with my Artful INKables stamps. I used my EK Success Watercolor markers for the stamps, and te little bit of detailing that I did. Here’s a close up shot.

And another.

I like the soft look of the card. It’s very tranquil, like I would imagine Isle Esme would be. And, I suppose I don’t need to remind you what the feathers are about!!!

As always, our Design Team has fantastic projects to display for this week’s challenge – please go and check them out!

You guys are so cute!!! And I may be a little offended that you don't like crab cakes... ;) they must not have been made right, lol. They are in fact the nectar of the Gods. ;)

Great job on the card! It's very peaceful and serene.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
