August Sparkle Blend Blog Hop

Greetings! It's time for the August 2018 Doodles Paper Playground Blog Hop! We are so excited to be sharing the newest Sparkle Blends with you in one fabulous hop! Read through to the bottom of my post for the first stop of the hop, as well as info on how to possibly win ALL of the 6 new release Sparkle Blends!

For my project, I chose to work with the Be-Leaf in Yourself Sparkle Blend. This Blend has a wonderful mix of tiny leaves, striped sequins, and of course, all the glorious colors of Fall. I decided to break out an older (but still available) stamp and die from Stampendous. The oak specifically, from the Leaves Stamp and Leaves Die sets.

First, I decided where I wanted to put my leaf on my brown cardstock, which was already trimmed to 4" x 5 1/4." Then I die cut it. After that, I placed the cardstock on to my card base, and then into my Stamp Platform. I fit the stamp right into the die cut area, and closed the door on my Platform. Then I removed the brown cardstock, but kept the base in place and stamped the leaf with VersaFine Ink. This ensured that I had my stamp placed exactly where the die cut will be.

I then colored in my stamped leaf with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I also heat embossed my sentiment which is from the Stampendous Big Words Thanks stamp set. Next, I adhered a piece of acetate and then craft foam to the back of the brown cardstock. I added my Be-Leaf in Yourself Sparkle blend to the stamped leaf, and stuck the brown cardstock with foam to the base.

I decided I needed a little something at the top so I stuck down some funky metallic washi tape from Queen & Co. The photo above shows how metallic it is. Otherwise, it's a terrible photo...but I wanted you to see the shine of the washi tape. This shaker came together very quickly, and it is a technique I highly recommend. I love the dimension you get from having the stamped image below the shaker window. It adds a lot of depth and interest. And that fabulous shaker blend has so many wonderful little bits!

Please be sure to visit all of the stops on the hop. All stops are listed below. If you would like the opportunity to win the full release, you must comment on everyone's post. One winner will be chosen at random to win full size packages of all 6 August Sparkle Blends. Be sure to provide a current email address with your comments, as that is how you will be contacted. I never thought a leaf would look so pretty on a card. I may just have to try one I am not sure I have a leaf will have to look but the colors you have just make it pop for autumn. I love when the leaves turn such pretty colors in the fall.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
