Seaside Christmas

Hello! Have you seen the latest Stampendous stamps? The July catalog is out and the stamps have been loaded to the web site! Trust me, if you love Christmas and Halloween, you will not want to miss this release. We are going to begin by celebrating Christmas in July. My card today is one of my favorites that I made for this release. I live on Long Island, so the beach is never far away. I thought this image was really lovely, and although I wouldn't want to spend Christmas on a Long Island beach (it is waaaay too cold!), I do think it would be fun somewhere tropical. My full instructions are below. Supplies: Stampendous : P340 : Seaside Christmas EP211 : Golden Sand Embossing Powder Other : My Colors Cardstock: Ocean Side, Atlantic Shore Neenah: Desert Storm Cardstock Imagine: VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne, VersaMark Ink Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers: 021, 024, 029, 031, 037, 042, 044, 064, 070, 072, 075, 092, 098, 220, 222, 302, 303, 900, 901 Ranger: Distress...

Remembering Aletha

Greetings, Friends. This post today is part of a very special blog hop. We are celebrating the life of an amazingly talented artist and friend. The crafting community lost Aletha Jane Williams on May 5, 2019. Those of us that worked with her on Design Teams or on Challenge Blogs all agree that she was one of the sweetest and most talented women we knew. We are not here to mourn her loss though. This hop is happening in conjunction with a very special celebration of her life and her art that her husband Bob is holding in her home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please join us in honoring our incredibly creative friend Aletha . My card features the "Remembering Aletha" Sprite, which Mitzi (owner and artist of Aurora Wings ) created specifically for this hop. She is generously giving the digi away to all, over on her blog. This sweet Sprite looks so much like Aletha, and I know she would have been honored. If you download this digi for yourself, please be sure to give a huge "...

Craftiness is Happiness

Hello again! So, I splurged. I bought myself the May My Monthly Hero kit because I absolutely, positively had to have it. It was totally full of crafty imagery and I have been wanting stamps like this for my collection. Also, I was one of the lucky folks that won a gift certificate to Therm O Web from the Stamp Junkies anniversary celebration, and I knew I just had to pair those brands together. I started off by using the Gina K Designs   Wreath Builder Template   and stamping off some of the images (with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne) from the Hero Arts kit. I decided to color block the 4 sections I created, and I really like the effect. These are 4 of my favorite colors to use together, so I knew I had to push the palette as far as I could. The Rainbow Shattered Glass Deco Foil from Therm O Web was absolutely perfect for this card. I applied it to some double sided sticky tape, backed with cardstock. I didn't need to heat set it, or even remove the release p...

Caffeinated Shark

Greetings! Today I have a card that I just felt like making. No DT stuff, no challenges....just me playing around with supplies. In case you didn't know, I recently taught at Unstoppable Retreats in Seattle. There, I had gotten my first 2 sets of stamps from The Rabbit Hole Designs . Now, I had seen a lot of wonderful projects from them already, I just didn't have any stamps yet. But I am supper excited to now have their Shark from the Caffeinated collection. I stamped this guy on Bristol Smooth cardstock and colored him with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. I crack up every time I look at him! I fussy cut him out and decided to use some scraps of patterned paper to make water. I also used the coffee molecule stamp in the background in a subtle way with Summer Sky Memento ink. And of course, I needed to use that hilarious sentiment. This was a quick card to put together, which I like, since I've been short on crafty time lately. I have plenty of ideas for Mr. Shark, ...

Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to my blog. If you're new, my name is Alison. If you're not, thanks for coming back! Today I am sharing a card that I created for the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop . This is such a fun hop with a ton of participants and sponsors, so I am excited to be joining in. My card features stamps from Ink Road . I just had to use the Inked Girl "Alison." Yup, she was named after me. Lara (the owner of Ink Road) has the coolest naming contests all the time. It is so cool to have a product named after you! I colored her up with Zig Clean Color Markers. My background was done with one of the stamps from my favorite Ink Road set, called Mug Life . I stamped all of the coffee cups with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide. Then, I applied some of the same ink to my palette, and used a brush and water to add shading to the cups. I love this tonal effect. I stamped a sentiment from the same Mug Life stamp set with VersaMark ink on to a piece of gray cardstock that I di...

Poolside Party

Hello and Happy May! I'm kicking off the month with a new shaker card that uses an older (but still available) Sparkle Blend. I had these images from the Floaties stamp set from Stampendous colored and cut, they just needed to be put on a card. My daughter and I decided to make the card together, and she chose to use Ocean View . It was the perfect Sparkle Blend to represent water in a pool. As we started to make the card, we thought it would be fun to complete it while we did a Facebook Live. So if you'd like to see the process, please click HERE . Those Floaties crack me up! We chose a piece of patterned paper from Echo Park's Coffee paper pad. We thought it was perfect for our "pool." Our circular window was cut with a die from Elizabeth Crafts Designs. The Ocean View Sparkle Blend has some wonderful shades of blue in it. And if you look really close to the Blend, you'll see tiny dolphins floating around in there. Our sentiments are from the Floaties ...

Kitchen Renovation Shaker

Hello! Today I have a new shaker card to share, but this one is very special. My husband and I are redoing our kitchen. It's a major job that we are doing ourselves, but we are so excited about it. We ordered cabinets through a home improvement store, and when you do that, you need to actually sit down with a "Kitchen Designer" to get everything ordered correctly. We knew what we were getting, so it was really just a matter of the woman helping us plugging in the dimensions and item numbers. But she was wonderful to work with, and was really helpful with some of the questions I had. I decided to make her a thank you card. But not just any card. And not just any shaker card, either. I decided to create a kitchen that looked pretty close to what ours will look like. Take a look. My staring point was the new Springtime Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . The colors were pretty close to what I'll be using in my kitchen. And of course, I was very inspired by ...

Longing to See You

Hello! This week, the Stampendous team has been sharing projects that are "Totally Wild." There are a lot of new jungle animals and foliage from the April catalog that we're highlighting, and I bet you'll find something that you'll like. I chose to work with the Giraffe stamp and die set and the 6" x 6" Fern Garden . I started off by coloring my giraffe with Zig Clean Color markers, and I added some highlights with a white Posca pen. I cut him and the accompanying circle die with tree out, and I used the circle die that comes with the Windowrama to trim the outer circle. This giraffe stamp and die set are meant to go with the Windowrama, but as you can see, you don't have to use them with it. Behind my circle die, I used a background that I made with Distress Oxides. I thought it looked like an abstract sunset. For my background, I inked up the Fern Garden with 3 colors of chalk ink from Color Box. I applied the inks directly from the pads, wh...

What a Brewtiful Day!

Happy April! It's the beginning of a wonderful month for many reasons. One of which is because it is new release month at Doodles Paper Playground ! There are SIX new Sparkle Blends that are available, starting today and they are perfect for Spring! The card I am sharing features Cafe Au Lait.  So if you follow me, you know I am crazy about Gina K 's Wreath Builder Templates . I use them all the time, and I decided to experiment way beyond flowers. I used my favorite stamp set from Ink Road Stamps, called " Mug Life " and this is what I came up with. A kaleidoscope of coffee! I stamped the images with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, and colored everything with my Zig Clean Color Markers.  Here's a good look at what's inside the Cafe Au Lait Sparkle Blend. You can see the soft coffee and milk colors, with different sizes and textures of sequins and gems. There are beads in the Blend too, but I opted to keep them out of this shaker. Would you look at tho...
