Day 20 of 31: Halloween Skirt

Hello! It's Day 20 of the 31 Days of Halloween, and today I have stepped away from the paper. Instead, I have a skirt to share! I am slowly learning how to sew, and I'm pretty happy with the way this skirt turned out. I fell in love with the vintage look of the print. Here's me wearing it yesterday. It was "Orange Day" in my class (I am an assistant teacher in a nursery school) so this skirt was perfect. As was the wig I borrowed from my sister.

Check out all of the fun little icons on that fabric! The skirt pattern was unique too. It wasn't supposed to have solid inserts, but I thought it would look cool with them. Now it has some nice contrast.

Here's me wearing the skirt last week with my daughter who is wearing a skirt I made for her previously. Her skirt has rockabilly ghosts and skeletons all over it. I love to sew...I just wish I had more time to do it. Please be sure to visit the rest of the Wicked Bloggers, they are all listed in my side bar. Thanks for stopping by. Have a creeptastic day!

I made all of my families clothes for
many years (this was back in the dark
ages). I enjoyed it and loved
getting comments about "you made that?)
Now the machine is put away and seldom
comes out.
The skirts look great. The solid
inserts set off the pattern.
thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your stitching.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Greetings! This is going to be such an exciting week for Dreamweaver Stencil s fans and Stampendous Stamps fans alike. It's going to be a "Dream-Pendous" week of inspiration! The Dreamweaver and Stampendous teams are collaborating once again with all the fun toys in each team's arsenals. Of course, as usual, there will be prizes given out for those who comment throughout the week. In fact, there will be 3 prize packs available! Each will have a great selection of Dreamweaver Stencils and Stampedous dies and images. One being the new "Blossom Beauty" face image as shown in the badge in my sidebar. I am beyond excited to share my project with you. I made an art journal page, with a....rather altered...version of the fantastic Blossom Beauty image. Can you tel that I had soooooo much fun with her?!? It was a blast to rework her beautiful face and turn half of her into a sugar skull. The flowers are really what inspired me to do it. They are so big and be...
