A Day for Daisies Announcement and Left of Center

I am now officially on the A Day for Daisies Design Team!  I am so very honored and excited to be a part of this amazing team. They are one of my absolute favorite digi companies ever, and I have wanted to join their team for quite some time. I am so excited to share my first official project with you today. I also have a great new challenge for Left of Center.

For my first A Day for Daisies project, we were asked to use a favorite image of ours, and use "Newsprint." I used Dragon Flight as my image of choice, and I decided to use my newsprint subtly. I colored this sweet dragon in with my Tombow markers.

I used the Scales stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils around the image. I used a cosmetic sponge to lightly apply my ink color. I also used the Picasso Tool to mask off the areas I didn't want to have the scales.

For my background, I spritzed 2 Dylusions sprays on to white cardstock, and then I added a thin line of Glossy Accents, and then some Stampendous! Medium Gold Halo glitter right on top. I also added a small piece of a punched border, a piece of washi tape, and of course the newsprint. Be sure to visit the A Day for Daisies Blog to see what the rest of the team has created. The Left of Center challenge this week is "3 of a Kind." This card features the beautiful Gothic Dark Moon from Sweet Pea Stamps and artist ching chou kuik. I also colored this image with my Tombow markers, but I tried out a new (for me) technique. I applied my markers in small areas, but then I used a brush and water to thin out the color and blend it a bit. I love the completed effect.

Isn't this a beautiful image? I love the bats! My background was done with one of my favorite Dreamweaver background stencils, the Quatrefoil. I simply used a sponge dauber to apply my ink color. You can get a much heavier look with a dauber than you can with the cosmetic sponge I used in the Dragon card above.

For my "3 of a Kind," I used 3 pieces of thin velvet ribbon from May Arts. It added a simple, nice texture to the card. I also matted the image on a shimmery lavender paper, and then pop dotted it for dimension. Please be sure to visit the Left of Center Blog to see what the rest of the "B" team has cooked up for you. SBS and MIC Collaboration: Day 2!

Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
