Day 31 of 31: Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!! It's my favorite day of the year and I am so excited to share it with all of you. It's a bit bittersweet....I LOVE the anticipation...building up the excitement, and I always get sad when it's all over of course. Also, my sweet Mother in Law passed on Halloween night 2 years ago. She (along with my Dad, Father in Law, and dog Oliver) will be honored in our annual Day of the Dead Celebration. But no more sadness now! It's Halloweenie!!!

As you all know, I have been a Guest DT member with the Dream Team from Dreamweaver Stencils this month. And I have loved every minute of it! This month, the challenge has been Magical and Mysterious. Kinda like me! ;) So here is my last GDT project....

Ok. So I don't like spiders. I used to be terrified of 'em, but I'm trying to play nice and not shreik every time I see them, or kill them, etc. I let them live now, I save their lives (by taking them outside), let them hang out in corners of the house, and so on. So, I thought it would be nice of me to make them a card. Yeah, I think I have lost my mind.

I started off with embossing the Spider Web with silver embossing paste. Love that stuff! I shook on some gunmetal colored glitter, and let it dry. I took my Spider and embossed him with black embossing paste on black cardstock. Once he was dry, I verrrrrry carefully cut him out. Actually, the paste made it a lot easier. I took the gorgeous Leafless Tree and inked it up with silver ink on black cardstock, trying to make it look like cracks or something that has shattered.

I used pop dots for the spider, and I stamped my sentiment (Recollections) with StazOn on to acetate. I fastened it with 2 eyelets. Ta da!!! The Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween is officially over for me! And I loved it! Loved all of you too! Thank you for making this month rock! And a huge thank you to the Dream it Up! team for allowing me to be a guest. It has been a blast. Please be sure to visit the rest of the Wicked Bloggers one last time...all listed in my sidebar. Thanks for stopping by. Have a spook-tacular day!!!

aaawww...I am so proud of your spider philosophy, I try to be kind to small critters too, but I know it's not easy sometimes. The card is gorgeous...REALLy...wish I could see it in person, the idea of the word on acetate works so well. Thanks for all your wonderful creations this month.

Thank you for all you have shared this month, and all your time and effort.

Creepy is sort of cool. I think (hope?) you are the only one I know making a card FOR the spiders.

Happy Halloween, Alison. Great card. I don't like spiders either. I haven't quite adopted your way of thinking about them yet. But after seeing all the great projects this month with spiders, maybe.

Thank you for giving us such wonderful projects all month long. I have really enjoyed stopping by your blog each day to see what you have created.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
