Bring the Heat: S&S Hop

Hello again! It’s time for a Smeared & Smudged Blog Hop! The theme is “Bring the Heat.” “This is totally up to interpretation....some ideas would be using heat embossing, hot glue or fire. Or even using imagery of fire, heat, or even something SEXY! Step outside your comfort zones - the HOTTER the better!!! It can be a canvas, a card, a scrapbook page, an altered item, an art journal page, etc. Use your imaginations. Also, don't forget the S&S rule that is has to be stamped somewhere (digi stamps are fine).”
I teamed up with my Bombshell Stamps Babes, and used several sets for my “hot” creation.
I started off using Harley Bikes, knowing that I wanted to use the flame from the Hula Girl set on the tank of the bike. I stamped the bike, then the flame- in 2 colors, and I embossed the flame so that it would really show…especially after I colored the rest of the tank in.
Then I went for a stamp I hadn’t used before…the devil from the Cherry Bomb set. I stamped him in clear, several times, and then embossed him in clear as well, to get a raised watermark effect.
After that, I pulled out some Distress Inks and went to town with inking my edges, to give it a bit of that burnt paper look to it. I was going to actually burn the edges, but I decided to go with the safer, inkier route.
But it still needed something, so I used the banner from the Homeward Bound set. Thinkin’ the person riding his bike, may just be riding into Hell. So it’s time for you to continue hopping! Here is the complete blog roll, so that you don’t get lost.
Enjoy the rest of the hop! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Totally fabulous.

I love how you colored the motorcycle and added a flame accent to it.

Brilliant tone on tone use of the devil. Funny that we both chose the same image!

Gorgeous work, Alison! I'm loving your handmade DP with the embossed devil. It adds the perfect feel to your card. Your coloring of the bike is AMAZING and the homeward bound adds just the right amount of accent to the main image. I can see you using the bike stamp in a future scrapbook page with you and your hubbs :)
FABULOUS! love the image and the colours :)

Mediterranean Dreams Shaker

Hello! Today I have a card that features the Mediterranean Dreams Subscription Kit from White Rose Crafts.  This fabulous Subscription Kit brings together sparkling, azure Mediterranean seas, sun-bleached shores and the rich colors of vibrant Mediterranean cultures in a carefully curated kit. I knew I just had to try the Jillibean Soup shaker card and I chose to use one of the stamps (from Kaisercraft) to make my background. I stamped the seashell with Tea Dye Distress Oxide all over the background of the card. Then I applied some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to my craft mat, spritzed it with some water, and splattered it on to my card base. Last, I inked the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Mini Blending Brush. For my sentiment, I die cut a stitched rectangle from my stash, out of the pearly yellow cardstock that came in the kit and stamped it with "Wish You Were Here" stamp from the same "Summer Splash" stamp set, with StazOn Pigment ink. And ...

Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
