Capricorn, Simi, and a Chick with a Gun

I am so excited to share my post with you today! As most of you know, Friday is my day to share a Smeared Ink Creation with all of you. I broke out 2 of my favorite sets this week for one card. But in addition to that, I am proud to share with you a new release from Sweet November! I am honored to share Capricorn with you…two very different versions, actually! So, let’s get started!

I was thrilled when I heard from

I stayed true to the earthy colors of Capricorn. Our colors range from black to grey to brown to green and blue. So I used a little of everything here! I also took notes from Amy’s cards from the week (I hope you have seen them…they are ALL stunning!). She has this lovely way of scattering her rhinestones on her cards…I mimicked that look because I fell in love with it.

Isn’t she pretty? I colored her in with my beloved colored pencils. Aren’t her horns fab? I have horns similar to these (though they are a bone color) that I wear to the Ren Faire every year (yes…and times that I just feel demon-esque too! ).

Sorry about the glare in this photo. I wanted you to see the fabulous sentiment (from Verve) and the pretty and sparkly fibers (from EK Success). Now on to my other version…

Hopefully, many of you read the Dark Hunter Series by Sherilyn Kenyon so that you understand my reference here. If you haven’t read them, you should! One of my favorite characters is Simi. I love Simi. She rawks! She loves QVC and BBQ…and dressing goth! Hmmmm….kinda sounds like me, no? Anywho, when I saw my pretty Capricorn stamp, I immediately thought of Simi. This is sort of what I picture in my head when she’s not in full Demon mode…

I know she isn’t colored as described in the books, but that’s ok! This is just my version. :) What do you think?

I again used my colored pencils, but for her skin I used chalk. This could be the look on her face when she pictures BBQ-ing the heifer Goddess! ;)

I stamped out the sentiment and mounted it on top of silver flames. I thought they were quite appropriate here! Capricorn (and all of the other fabulous Zodiac images) are quite versatile! They will be available starting March 7th in the Amy’s blog today, but also my friend Margie’s blog (she will be featuring Sagittarius and Sweet November DT member, Nancy’s blog.

But wait! Before you go…let me share one more card with you today. Here is my latest Smeared Ink creation, featuring images from Chicks Dig Guns and Holy City.

It’s been so long since I have played with these sets, I needed to show them some love!

I colored Tori in (yes, that is actually Tori!) with my colored pencils of course. And I chalked the cemetery just a bit with some chalk.

The sentiment has been embossed for added texture, and I chalked and inked the edges of everything. I really love combining my Smeared Ink sets. They work so well together. Have you been to the Smeared Ink DT blog yet? You should! Every day of the week one of our fabulous Design Team members bring you their latest projects. You shouldn’t miss them! You can also check them all out at Smeared and Smudged, our fabulous forum. If you like gothic, alternative and vintage art, this is the place for you!!!

I hope you enjoyed my offerings today. I know it was a long post, but well worth it, don’tcha think? HUGE thanks to Amy for letting me play along in her Zodiac release! Have an inspiring day!

I am entering my Simi card into this week's Macabre Monday. The theme is My Beloved Monster. As I mentioned Simi is a demon. A demon I just adore! And I am quite sure that Ash would agree that Simi is the only monster that he adores! Who's Ash? Go read the Dark Hunter series! ;)

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
