January S&S Hop: Mesh It!

Hello! It's been ages since I've done a Smeared & Smudged hop, and I missed them, so I needed to play along with the latest one. The theme is "Mesh It!" You were to use mesh some how, somewhere on your project. I decided to break out some of my favorite Smeared Ink stamps for this one, so I chose 3 images, from 3 of my favorite collections. I used one of the Gals from Chicks Dig Guns, the mesh stamp from Quoth the Raven, and "pucker up" from Lil Grumpies. I stamped everything in white, and embossed it all in clear, for dimension. Here you can see the texture from the powder. I also went in with a white pen, and added additional highlights to the chick. I distressed the edge of the black cardstock, and inked a bloody red around the edges of the card. Voila! It's done! Simple, but it makes a statement. Basically, you don't wanna piss this chick off! There's a lot more hopping to be done, so get to it! Here is the full list of hoppers...

Capricorn, Simi, and a Chick with a Gun

I am so excited to share my post with you today! As most of you know, Friday is my day to share a Smeared Ink Creation with all of you. I broke out 2 of my favorite sets this week for one card. But in addition to that, I am proud to share with you a new release from Sweet November! I am honored to share Capricorn with you…two very different versions, actually! So, let’s get started! I was thrilled when I heard from I stayed true to the earthy colors of Capricorn. Our colors range from black to grey to brown to green and blue. So I used a little of everything here! I also took notes from Amy’s cards from the week (I hope you have seen them…they are ALL stunning!). She has this lovely way of scattering her rhinestones on her cards…I mimicked that look because I fell in love with it. Isn’t she pretty? I colored her in with my beloved colored pencils. Aren’t her horns fab? I have horns similar to these (though they are a bone color) that I wear to the Ren Faire every year (yes…and times ...

End of Term Smeared & Smudged Blog Hop

It’s time to say goodbye and hello over at Smeared & Smudged . It’s the end of the term for the DT, and while some of our team will be returning, others will not. But, we will be welcoming in some new faces too! So, it’s a bittersweet ending. Terra, Kelli and I wanted to have a “last hurrah” hop for the DT, but of course we needed to make it into a challenge! So, I decided that since we all now have so many awesome Smeared Ink sets, lets all make projects that use 3 or more sets of Smeared Ink stamps ! I’m hearing through the grapevine that some of the ladies are none too thrilled with my little challenge. I, however, loved it and thought it was a lot of fun! I made a card using FOUR different Smeared Ink sets. Holy City (the cemetery), Chicks Dig Guns (the heart), Nymphs (the frame), and Lil Grumpies (the sentiment). I think they all worked so well together! I pop dotted the frame and the heart, which gave the card fabulous dimension, and really directs your eye to the 2 tombst...

Friends Having Fun Sketch Challenge #1

Yes! I did it! I made my Friends Having Fun card! We are not supposed to be stressing about these challenges (hence the “Fun!” part of the name), but I really wanted to play along. I loved Dani’s sketches from Twilight Tuesday (which I still miss so much!), so I really wanted to make something for her latest sketch! Take a peek. Ain’t it purdy??? It is until you see my version! It’s a bit off kilter wouldn’t you say? But that’s how I roll! I had this image from Smeared Ink’s Chicks Dig Guns collection for a while now. I knew it would work perfectly for this sketch. I think that this is my favorite image from that collection. She’s really pretty, I love what she’s wearing, and that gun just nasties the whole “pretty as a picture” image up! I even left her socks white to butch her up a teeny bit. Here’s a close-up: She’s colored in with my Spectracolor colored pencils from Design. I stamped her on some cardstock that has little black flecks in it. I thought it gave it some umph. Th...

A Smokin’ Gun

Greetings! I have been busy working on several projects all at once (is it just me?), and I finished one to show you. My craft room is upstairs, and the kiddies really can’t go up there for a number of reasons. So I am stuck working on partial projects until I can get some time in my room. So I am constantly coloring in images lately. No complaints here of course, but now I have a bunch of images with no homes! I had originally planned on making a card for today’s Friends Having Fun sketch challenge, but I’ll have to hold that off for today. I had colored in one of my new fave images and again, she was homeless. So, I decided to give this pretty lady a home. And, what’s really cool is that this was another one of those cards that just fell into place. Not a whole lot of thinking required here! This baby has another couple of stamps from the Chicks Dig Guns collection from Smeared Ink . I love this set. The chicks are all so different, yet all so pissed off! And can I just tell you tha...

Janie’s Got a Gun…

Janie may have a gun, but someone has their sites set on Janie! Here is my very first card using one of the brand new stamp sets from Smeared and Smudged . It’s from the Chicks Dig Guns Collection. This chic is pissed! Obviously, this lady who either heard a bump in the night, or is really pissed off at her lover! I used 3 of the stamps from this set. Then I used the site stamp on the background of the card and on parts of her body. I only colored her in where the sites are. Here’s a closer look. I love how this all came out. I think I will use this same partial coloring technique on some of the other ‘Chicks” in this collection. I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain- one of my faves. And here’s the inside. Nothing too crazy… just a little “flash.” The bullets are also of course from this crazy collection. Have you checked out the other Smeared Ink stamps? Well, you should! They are unlike anything else that’s out there! Go check ‘em out. Have an inspiri...
