Spooky Banner: Day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween

This was a project I made with my kids (mostly). I had had this pennant die from Sizzix for a long time, and I got it specifically for Halloween. This was the first time I actually got to use it though. Let me apologize for my crummy pics. I am exhausted, and couldn’t quite figure out the best way to photograph this baby.

It’s blurry and tough to see, but if you click on this or any other image you can see it bigger. So I had Nix help me pick out the papers (which he loves to do), and then he and Rhi helped me use the Sizzix machine to cut everything out. They did pretty well considering it got a bit boring for them after a while.

Spooky-Banner-2

As you can see, there are 4 layers to each flag, so it was a lot of cutting. Luckily, we were able to cut a few pieces at once. They helped me ink up my letters (Inkadinkado), and add some glue. But they really couldn’t do much more. Honestly, they weren’t too into it by then anyway.

Spooky-Banner-3

I used eyelash yarn to tie them all together after I added  2 eyelets to each pennant. I tied each piece separately so that I could have long tails throughout the whole banner.

Spooky-Banner-4

Here you can see the size better since it’s in my hand. And I wanted you to see the little flecks of glitter in the black cardstock that I used. It’s so pretty! See the bits of gold and silver?

It was a really easy, but repetitive project. Not that I mind that at all. It was definitely fun, and I will probably make another one using different papers and of course, a different saying.

Enjoy the rest of your hopping! The Wicked Blogs are all listed in my sidebar. Have an inspiring day!

Cool project! If you make another one, I think the cameos from Strange Skin would look uber fab on the pennants! If you turn the pennants upside down you can have cool tee pees (sp?) for a thanksgiving deco. Hmmm...I may have to get that die! Sorry for the babble. My diet pepsi hasn't kicked in yet.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
