August Bombshell Hump Day Hop…and Other Challenges

Greetings fellow Bombshell fanatics! It’s the last Wednesday of the month, so it’s time for another Hump Day Hop! The hop is combined with the ladies over at Gauche Alchemy, so you’re in for a real treat! For my card, I combined not only the Hop Challenge, but the sketch and GDT challenge as well! We got a 3-fer here! Gotta love multi-tasking! So here’s the breakdown…

1. The Hop: Some Like it Hot, Hot, Hot! Inspiration possibilities: the movie "Some like it Hot" and the song "Hot, Hot, Hot"
Summer themes
Flames on the Hot Rod stamps
…and of course Summer colors

2. The Sketch:

untitled

3. The Guest Bombshell Challenge: Courtesy BoHo Rose: Burlesque! Put simply, burlesque means "in an upside down style". Burlesque turns social norms head over heels.
Burlesque, performers often create elaborate sets with lush, colorful costumes, mood-appropriate music, and dramatic lighting, and may even include novelty acts, such as fire breathing or contortionists, to enhance the impact of their performance.

Now without any further adieu…

August-Hop-1

“Haute” ain’t she??? So, I took a play on words with the name Kas had given us for the hop, so I wrote “Haute Stuff” as my sentiment. Yeah. it’s placed in a different spot then where Kathi drew it…but I know she won’t mind! ;} As far as the Burlesque theme goes…well…do you see what she’s wearing? Wouldn’t Dita Von Tesse love this get up? It’s just missing feathers…For some ridiculous reason, I couldn’t find a single black freakin’ feather! Insanity! Especially given my love of boas…but that’s a whole ‘nuther sack of potatoes…

August-Hop-2

I visited the Crayola Factory with my family last week. A whole gaggle of us went…it was a blast! I finally found the “Multicultural” pencil set that I have been looking for. Don’t even say it…Crayola pencils are awesome! No, I’ll never give up my Spectracolors…but Crayolas are great. Anyway, I used only the Multicultural set for coloring in my Bombshell. I really wanted this set because of the fabulous browns in it, and I think the whole set worked out perfectly here! You’ll also notice that I gussied her up with some Black Diamond Stickles.

August-Hop-3 I stamped out some stars, cut ‘em out and added some flames. What’s hotter then that?

August-Hop-4

And check out the pattern on my white cardstock (Prism). It’s got a gorgeous sheen and an awesome swirl pattern to it. I thought it was perfect!

Thanks for stopping by! I’m the last stop on the hop so I hope you enjoyed it!!! But in case you’re missing anyone…here’s the entire list:

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Two Huge Valentine’s Day Hops!

I am in not one, but two Valentine’s Day hops! Not bad for someone that doesn’t even like Valentine’s Day… The first is via Smeared & Smudged . It’s time for our monthly Member Blog Hop! The second was started by Taylor Usry . Please bear with me…this post is long because I am sharing 2 projects and the hop lists are huge. Let’s stat with Smeared & Smudged, shall we? My dear friend Alex and I collaborated on the theme for this month’s S&S Member Hop. Instead of making it a free-for –all, we decided to challenge our members a little…create something Valentine’s Day / love themed, but there is a catch.  Because we are Smeared and Smudged you can not use any of the following: No hearts No red or pink Nothing ‘cute’ unless you make it uncute of course :) Ok, so it’s not dark and scary…but it’s definitely not cute either. I used my colored pencils for the focal image.  It’s from Smeared Ink’s Smitten collection. The “pretty fly” is from the teir teen Style Sa
