StampInsanity #22 I’m So Distressed!

Hello! It’s Thursday, so that means it’s time for another awesome StampInsanity challenge! This week, we’ve got a sketch with a twist…distressing! One of my most favorite things to do! Let’s take a look at the sketch first.

SISC22

And here is my card:

SISC22-1

I used Pierette, one of my most favorite StampInsanity images. I wanted to do a sepia-ish toned image, but I found these fabulous rusty corals and coppers and knew it was the way to go. I was going for the aged look, but with using more modern tones. I was a little worried about finding the right paper though, as I always color in my images before I scope out the rest of my supplies… But I think I found the perfect paper! The tones are spot on!

SISC22-2

Here’s a close up of my coloring and the fab copper colored metallic paper (DCWV) I used. The stiped and polka dotted paper is also DCWV, and the brocade is Basic Grey.

SISC22-3

I realized as I was looking through my embellies, that I haven’t used eyelets since who knows when…and I love my eyelets! So I popped 2 copper ones on to finish the card off. You can also see the inking (distressing) I’ve done to my card here. I used a Burnt Sienna Chalk ink from Color Box. You can never go wrong with those! I edged everything but the metallic cardstock with that ink.

SISC22-4

Please click on any of the images to see them bigger. I think the card looks nice and aged, don’t you? I think the tones are unusual, and I of course like that a lot!  Now go and check out the rest of the Groovy Gurlz’s creations! Can’t wait to see what YOU make!

I do the same thing! I color first and then hope for the best when it comes to paper and embellies...lol!! This turned out great! Love the shimmery copper goodness! I can't remember the last time I put an eyelet on something, but maybe it's time to dig those babies out ;D

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
