StampInsanity Challenge #8: Mystic Beauties Release & Easel Card

Another week has flown by! It’s time for a fantastic new release from StampInsanity! Beth has 3 gorgeous new images that are being released today! And they are only available at the Stamp Happens shop!

This week’s challenge is to create an easel card. And of course, the Groovy Gurlz had to use the one of the new Mystic Beauties (no twisting of the arm there! I love ‘em!). To learn how to make an easel card, click HERE for a really easy tutorial. I was a little worried about this at first… More measuring? Yikes! But honestly, it’s super easy to make and looks so cool when it’s done!

This is the Pearl Princess. Isn’t she lovely? This is a straight on view of the card, so you don’t really see that it’s an easel. Here’s a different shot.

Mermaid2

See how it’s standing? Pretty neat right? The sentiment says: “A circle is round, it has no end; that’s how long I’ll be your friend.” Please note, the sentiment is part of a totally different new release that will be available next Thursday! I just wanted to give ya a little sneak peek!

Mermaid3

Here’s a closer look at my Pearl Princess. I love making mermaids green… She’s colored in with my colored pencils and some various Sakura pens. Check out the glitz!

Mermaid4

Her eyes, lips, shells, and pearls are all metallic or glittery. Oh! And her fins are colored with a metallic gold pencil. So now it’s your turn! Come and play with the Groovy Gurlz of StampInsanity! Here’s why:

1. Each time you enter a challenge for the month, you will receive one entry into an end of month drawing for a free digi of your choice. If you use an SIS image, you get another entry. The drawing will be done on the first day of the next month.

2. Then, the top 3 entries each week will receive an “I grooved with the Gurlz” badge to display on their blogs. We'll distribute the badges on the day of the new challenges.

Doesn’t that sound great? Are you inspired yet? Make an easel card and show us what you’ve got!

But, for now, please be sure to stop by the rest of the Groovy Gurlz!!!

My card also works for the Scrap, Stamp and Doodle Blog and the Crafty Creations Blog. Thanks for stopping by! Have an inspiring day!!!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
