TTIC #42 Unlikely Friendship

Hoorah! It’s Tuesday again! This week’s Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge is brought to us by Erica. Erica is a Guest Designer filling in for Margie. She is super creative and I really like this challenge! Here’s the scoop:

Breaking Dawn is my favorite book of the series, like many of you, so I was really trying to think about what I loved about the 4th book. Of course I love the romance, but that is throughout the whole series. One thing that I love about Breaking Dawn is how SM really looks into Jacob, especially his relationship with his new pack, especially Leah.

“It would be interesting, at the very least, and strange, too, to have Leah as a companion – as a friend. We were going to get under each other’s skin a lot, that was for sure. She wouldn’t be one to let me wallow, but I thought that was a good thing. I’d probably need someone to kick my butt now and then. But when it came right down to it, she was really the only friend who had any chance of understanding what I was going through now.” Breaking Dawn, Book 2 pg. 336

For the craft portion: Make a project using at least 2 items that you wouldn’t think normally go together. Whether it be two colors, or two different patterns or something elegant and rough, it is up to you. As far as the subject, have fun with it. Celebrate one of your unlikely friendships or an unlikely friendship in the Twilight Saga.

For the comment portion: Do you have an unlikely friendship? What makes you different but what unites you at the same time?

As I said, I am really happy with this challenge, especially because I got to finish a layout that I have been working on for –no joke- like a year! I have my crop bag packed and ready to go when I am vending somewhere, so I never really change anything out unless I finish a project. I have been stumped with this layout for some silly reason, but this challenge inspired me and I got it done! Here’s my layout:

Bella's Lullaby 007 So, you’re wondering… how is this combination unlikely? It’s just the regular Twi-colors! Well, yeah, that’s true… but… It’s Twi-colors on a BABY page! No pastels here! Actually, I rarely use pastels for my babies… that’s just how I roll! This is when Phoenix was like a week old. I cannot believe how tiny he is! Oh, I miss him being that small!!! Anyway, before I get all teary eyed, I made this layout by pulling the most obvious things off my sister Pam. Her skeleton hand gloves, her awesome skirt, the studs on her belt.

Bella's Lullaby 009 I hand drew the title, and added some Stickles around the spikes. And last, I added a Ghost Star (from Heidi Swapp) and stapled it to the right corner. I am not only really happy with the layout, but thrilled that it is done! I’ll be putting it in Nix’s book along with all of his other zany pages I’ve made for him!

Now it’s time for you to check out all of the other Designer’s projects!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
