21st Century Pillow Book

Hello! It is no secret that Autumn is my favorite season. I love all things Halloween, the weather, the changing colors of leaves, the pumpkins ... that's what inspired my card today. I was also inspired by Lawn Fawn. Both for their adorable Pick of the Patch stamps and their current challenge, wish is " Awesome Autumn ." I picked up this stamp set from White Rose Crafts LLC . They have a ton of Lawn Fawn goodies there! I decided to not color my pumpkin patch. Instead, I used 3 patterns from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid "Chill" 6x6" paper pack. I stamped the pumpkins several times on each paper using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, and then colored in the stems with a brown marker. I fussy cut each of the pumpkins, which was simple enough to do. Hello! Can you believe that it is the last day of August? July took it's sweet time, but August just flew! It makes me so sad that Summer is coming to an end, but I am looking forward to the Fall. Last week, I got to go to the Scrapbook and Stamp Expo in Edison, NJ where I had an amazing time with my husband and met up with a couple of my crafty friends. I also got to meet Gina K, which was the highlight of the day! She is just wonderful, and I was so excited to see her demonstrate the Wreath Builder in person. Of course, I had to get one, but alas...the Wreath Builder Templates were out of stock. The Autumn Wreath Builder stamps were still available, so I grabbed one of those...and here I sit as I wait for my Templates to arrive. But, I couldn't wait any longer to use my new stamps, so I used them to create a non-wreath card. Hello! It's FREEZING on Long Island! We just had a "bombocyclone" which is a ton of frigid winds, lots of snow, and an insanely low pressure system. Needless to say, even though Winter just started, I am more than ready to bid it adieu already. To keep my mind off things, I decided to make a card that features the adorable Acorn Baby Sprite from Aurora Wings . I wanted to stay away from all things winter, and I had printed out this little Sprite some time ago. I colored him up with my Zig Clean Color Markers and a water brush. Here's a close up. After I fussy cut the Sprite, I decided I wanted to play with some dies, so I found an Oak Leaf die from Stampendous and cut 2 of them into my card base. I then stamped the coordinating Oak Leaf Stamp  on the base with Golden Glitz Delicata Ink. You'll see that better in the next photo. Hello, today I have a Fall themed card to share that features a coloring technique using Fantastix by Imagine . Supplies: Imagine : Kaleidacolor : Cappuccino Delight and Vineyard Fantastix : Bullet and Brush Tips Sheer Shimmer Spritz : Sparkle VersaMagic : Wheat Memento : Potters Clay VersaFine : Onyx Black Ink Potion No. 9 Other : Stampendous : Winter Tweets Stamp and Die set Canson: Mixed Media Paper Card Base Adhesive Directions: 1. Stamp the bird with VersaFine ink. Using the lightest shade in the Cappuccino Delight Kaleidacolor palette, ink a brush tipped Fantastix and begin to apply it to the chest of the bird. I wasted to give the bird a soft, brushy look, so I didn't apply my colors to heavily. 2. Move through the color palette to achieve the desired look on the bird. Hello! This week, the Stampendous team has been stamping and stenciling on Patty PopOns Puzzle pieces. I have a sheet of these fun little, velcro backed pieces. 4 rows of 3 pieces. So I decided to make each row a different season. Today I am sharing a piece from the Fall row. But I decided to include my kids in this project, so my daughter created a Winter piece, and my son created one for Spring. Here's mine. I used 3 alcohol markers and the Hexagons stencil to create my background. Then I used Glossy Black Embossing Paste for my Spider . After it dried, I used the Peeled Paint stamp from Andy Skinner's Industrial set with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink . I then inked the 2 outer edges of the puzzle piece. Hello, and Happy Friday! It's time for a new challenge with A Day for Daisies . For the next 2 week,s we ask you to "Add Some Watercolor." That's a pretty easy thing to do, in my opinion, as these images lend themselves so beautifully to watercolors. Here's my take on the challenge, using " Gathering Berries for Winter ." Of course I colored the adorable image completely with watercolors. My background was made by using Maple Leaf Large Stencil from Dreamweaver and a few sprays. I used 3 Dylusions, and 1 Memories Mist. I also sprinkled some pretty Golden Sand embossing powder from the Bronze Encrusted Jewels kit . Isn't this a sweet little squirrel? Hello again! For today's Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween post today, I have a new card featuring an A Day for Daisies. For the next 2 Fridays, we will be featuring the Pumpkinhead images. Take a look. I used Dancing Pumpkinhead 2 for today's card. I used the Indirect Blending technique for coloring my image. You can check out instructions on how to do this technique HERE . I also inked my paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink. She is a happy little pumpkin, huh? I used some fun DCWV paper , a button from Buttons Galore, and a wee bit of ribbon from May Arts. Hello! I have a 2-fer for you today. My first project is for the Fall theme that we Stampendous gals have been sharing with you all week. The second is for the new August Club Kit from A Day for Daisies . Let me start by saying that I LOVE House Mouse stamps! If you've been following me for a while, you know that I prefer creepy stuff...but when it comes to House Mouse images, I just melt! For today's card, I used Trick or Tweet . I colored the stamp with a combination of Tombow watercolor markers and Copics. I also used watercolor paints for my sky. If you look really close, you'll see that the bird has a teeny seed that he's giving to the trick or tweeters. For my background, I used the negative background that I had created for yesterday's card....scroll down to my next post to see!
