April Sparkle Blends Release Hop

Hello! Welcome back! And if you're new here, my name is Alison, and I appreciate you visiting me. Today is a big day, because Doodles Paper Playground is having their April Sparkle Blends Release Hop. This month, 6 brand new Sparkle Blends have come out to join the party, and the Doodles Paper Playground Divas are joined by several very special Guest Designers. So sit back and enjoy all of the wonderful projects we have to share with you. There are prizes to be won along the way too!
My card today features the beautiful new "Diamond" Sparkle Blend which is filled with lovely clear, opalescent clear, and moonshine sequins. There are different sizes, shapes, and styles in the Blend, so even thought it is all technically "clear," it is full of interest. This mix is perfect for the style of shaker I did today, which has a colored focal image in the background. The clear sequins sparkles, but doesn't hide the background. It just adds some magic.
I used, what very well could be, my favorite stamp set of all time. I know, I know....that's a big statement. But the "Me and My Dragon" stamp set from Mama Elephant is perfection. It's not about slaying the big, bad dragons. It's about befriending them. And that is something I have always wanted to do. Befriend the dragons. I love how the little humans in the set interact with the dragons, They ride them, they pet them.....it's the sweetest. So, it makes my heart happy when I use this stamp set. For this card, I waterecolored my background with watercolors from Artist's Loft. These are not the best paints, as they cover up the black lines of my stamped image a bit, so I needed to go back over it with a black PITT pen from Faber Castell, so my lines are a little thicker than they should be.
Here you can see how stunning the "Diamond" Sparkle Blend really is. Look at all of the different styles of sequins! I love the stars and the ones that have ridges on them. I added stars to the top layer of my card, along with some die cut vellum clouds, to add some faux dimension to the card. I adhered the stars with On Point Glue from Imagine. For the clouds, I ran them through my little "X" Sticker Maker from Xyron. I added a simple sentiment from Simon Says Stamp in Rich Cocoa Memento ink too.
I love how this card turned out. This is one where I might actually cut the back off of the card and just hang it in my craft room. What can I say? I just love dragons. The Diamond Sparkle Blend really adds to the magic too.
Now, how about some prizes? For a chance to win all 6 of the new Sparkle Blends, leave a comment on each leg of the hop. You'll receive 1 entry for each comment. Rules: Must be at least 18 to enter. Awesome card! I love that dragon too... it is hard to let go of some of them isn't it? These sequins are perfect to accent but not cover up all of the beautiful detail!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
