12 Days of Creepmas: Day 1 and DICC

Happy December 1st! I can hardly believe it is the last month of the year. Today officially marks Day 1 of the Smeared & Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas. Hopefully, you already know what that is.But if for some crazy reason you don't, please visit Terra's Blog to get the full run down. Also, since it's the 1st of the month, I have a new Desert Islands Crafters Challenge to share with you. This time, we are sponsored by Saturated Canary. I'm warning you, Creepmas fans...this was is gonna be cah-yute!!! ;) But first, my Creepmas card.

I used Noelle from Stampotique for this card. And look! I made a single layer card! And it's (fairly) clean and simple! 2 things I don't usually do.

I did a rough coloring job on Noelle, to go with the style she was drawn in. Plus, since there is so little negative space, I thought that coloring outside the lines would be good so that more color would show.

I did my border with a stencil and Distress Inks. My sentiment is from Inkadinkado. I will be entering this card into the Stampotique Designers Challenge, SDC 127. Now, on to DICC!

As a reminder, we at DICC have a list of 10 items in our Itinerary. Now. You need to use at least 3 of those items. What could you come up with? Well, here's the latest itinerary, along with what I've come up with.

1. Cupcakes
2. Speckles and Splatters
3. Recycle Something
4. Add a Charm
5. Lace
6. Distress It
7. Polka Dots
8. Make it a Gift
9. Feathers
10. Add a Bow

I used numbers 1, 3, 6, 7, and 10. I used the image Queenie and Princess. When I first saw this image, I immediately thought of my daughter. She loves to play dress up, and I really enjoy dressing her up! ;)

I colored these lovely little ladies with a combination of watercolor markers and alcohol markers. I intend to give this card to my little girl for her birthday, which is in 2 weeks.

Any guesses about my "recycled" portion of the card? See the shiny gold paper in the corner? It's part of a Twix wrapper, which I was happily enjoying as I was putting the card together. I needed something in that corner, and then I saw the wrapper.
So there you have it! Please be sure to visit the rest of the Jolly Bloggers, all listed in my sidebar. Also, the DICC gals, via the DICC blog. Thanks for stopping by. Have a creeptastic day!

How cute your Creepmas card is! I think it was a good choice to colour a little outside of the lines.

Coloring outside the lines was a great choice. Sometimes we all need to just color outside the lines. I love both of your projects for today. What a great way to start the hop.

Well, I think both cards are cute. I especially like the tree type hairstyle Noelle has going on.

Your use of the twix foil wrapper has me smiling. I have a stash of Hershey mini candy foils.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
