Metallic Mish Mash

Did you know that Smeared Ink has a challenge every week??? It does! And YOU can vote for the winner! Entries are all up for voting every Thursday-Friday. If you’d like to check out all the deets, click HERE, then click on “Challenge.”

This week, the challenge is to use metal or metallic colors on your project. And, as a Silversmith, I love working with anything metallic! So of course I needed to play along!!!

IMG_0901  So it’s pretty hard to photograph this card properly, but I hope you can see the main image! It’s the Water Goddess from Smeared Ink’s Goddess set. Here’s a different photo, in slightly different light.

IMG_0897 You can click on any of the photos to see them bigger. I took some plain old tin foil and rubbed the image into it. SI’s stamps are so deeply cut, it was easy to do! Then, I experimented with coloring her in…to almost no avail. The only medium that I played with that actually stuck was Staz On ink. I tried lots of mediums…but they all came off. So I very gently rubbed the Staz On pad directly on to my now-embossed image.

IMG_0898 See all of her spiral hair? I decided to not add paper to the card, as it would have been way too busy. Instead, I took the window from SI’s Holy City set (love!), and stamped it directly onto my card with the same Teal Staz On ink. But it needed a little something more!

IMG_0900 I embellished and glued with Mermaid Stickles. I put a couple of glue dots under my foiled image, but I didn’t want the edges of the piece to lift, as the foil is so delicate, so I sealed the entire piece with the Stickles. Then, I added a few swishes and dots to the Window images around the card.

So, what do you think??? Think it’s worth voting for? Then please visit Smeared Ink on Thursday or Friday and vote! Don’t worry… I’ll remind you! ;} Have an inspiring day!!!

Mediterranean Dreams Shaker

Hello! Today I have a card that features the Mediterranean Dreams Subscription Kit from White Rose Crafts.  This fabulous Subscription Kit brings together sparkling, azure Mediterranean seas, sun-bleached shores and the rich colors of vibrant Mediterranean cultures in a carefully curated kit. I knew I just had to try the Jillibean Soup shaker card and I chose to use one of the stamps (from Kaisercraft) to make my background. I stamped the seashell with Tea Dye Distress Oxide all over the background of the card. Then I applied some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to my craft mat, spritzed it with some water, and splattered it on to my card base. Last, I inked the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Mini Blending Brush. For my sentiment, I die cut a stitched rectangle from my stash, out of the pearly yellow cardstock that came in the kit and stamped it with "Wish You Were Here" stamp from the same "Summer Splash" stamp set, with StazOn Pigment ink. Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
