TTIC# 53: The Transformation

It’s Tuesday again! And this isn’t just any Tuesday… it’s the Tuesday that I get to pick the next Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge!!! Do you have any idea how excited I am?!?!?! Here is my challenge…

I am so excited to be bringing you my second challenge! This one is a little different, because you get the opportunity to make yourself the subject! Spoiler alert! Don't continue reading if you haven't finished the Twilight Saga!!!
In Breaking Dawn, Bella transforms from human to vampire. In life, we all go through changes...though not as severe as Bella's! What kind of changes have you physically gone through? Cut off all your hair? Dye it blue (like me?)? Nose job? Pregnancy? Lost a lot of weight? We just celebrated Halloween... did you or someone you know wear a costume that transformed them to being unrecognizable?
Craft Challenge: Create something that narrates a physical change you've gone through
Comment Challenge: Tell us about your change, or a change that you wish you could go through!

It’s no secret that I like to change my image pretty frequently. Most of you have seen the different incarnations of my hair! Well, it goes beyond just my locks… When I am of “normal Alison” size (i.e. my boobs aren’t heavy and swollen with milk, and my belly isn’t soft from being stretched by my unborn babies), I like to change my style all the time. Like daily. I mean, I have tried and true looks, but they’re just varied. I like to switch things up for myself a bit. I like to think it keeps me interesting. I think this started in the beginning of High School… I’ve gone from Goth (my fave look that don the most, ‘cause that’s the “real” me!), to Raver (which is such a fun look!), to more of what you’d see an artist living in Arizona wearing (if that makes any sense at all!). It’s fun for me. Yeah, maybe I look a little costume-y to some people… but it’s a way I can express myself. I like to have fun with clothes, and hair, and shoes… why not have fun? Why not stand out? Ok, off the soap box Alison… on to my project. One of the biggest changes I went through happened last year…

Yup! When I was pregnant with Baby Rhiannon! Click on the picture to see just how huge my belly was!!!

All I can say is holy cow!!!

So I used cardstock from Tinkering Ink and Prism. The TI paper has such fantastic patterns! I don’t usually work from just one collection at a time, I like to mix it up (big surprise, I know!), but this set of patterns was exactly what I was looking for with this page! I added stickers from Scenic Route, a brad, a couple of arrows and voila!

Here’s a spread I did back when I first started scrapping… I never even finished it! But, it was quite a transformation!

Ummm, I think that qualifies for a pretty big change huh? I think it was a pretty ballsey move. And I never tell people when I’m chopping off my hair. I love to see the shock on people’s faces! ;}

If I could change anything about myself…..??? Let’s just go with the extreme fantasy here huh? I would want to be like Bella. Yup, I’d want to be a vampire. Call me crazy, fine. I’ve always been fascinated with the vamps. I’d love to be one of them. Though I’ve gotta say, I’d def. be the vegetarian kind!

Ok, it’s your turn! Show me what you’ve done!!! And, make sure you check out the rest of the fantastic TTIC Design Team!!!

You are beautiful and you are a gorgeous pregnant woman! I love the transformation page. The colors are awesome and I love your hand doodlings too! The hair pages are cute too! I cute my hair to my ears on my 17th birthday and did not touch it with scissors for 11 months, had very pretty prom hair and two days later chopped it all off again and I don't think it has been long since...about 10 years. Thanks for sharing and the topic is awesome!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Deco Art and Andy Skinner Hop

This is a very exciting week for the Stampendous team! We are hanging out with the ultra cool Deco Art Mixed Media team, each using each other's products to share some incredible creations with you. These companies go hand in hand, so using each other's products is easy. And the results are amazing. We are of course featuring Andy Skinner's stamps, who is the DecoArt International Education Coordinator.  And yup, there are prizes! But I want you to go to the Stampendous Blog for all of that info. The link is at the bottom of the post. Now, on to my project. I made a cool wall hanging today. I started off with a piece of MDF and I drilled 2 holes, and covered it with DecoArt's white Gesso. After it dried, I used Andy's Alcohol and Media fluid Acrylics Layering Technique. You can check out his how-to video HERE . Needless to say, it's a great technique, and I loved doing it. Once I finished with the aforementioned technique, I sealed the piece w

Changes

Greetings! I don't have a project to share with you today, but rather, an announcement. I have decided to completely revamp my blog, and move it to a new site. I've been blogging at 21st Century Pillow Book for over 10 years now, and it's been wonderful. But the "Pillow Book" aspect got lost somewhere along the way. If you don't know what that is, read my description in the blog header, or do a quick search. They are really very cool. Anyway, I thought it was due time for me to work on a new blog, more of a brand, etc. So, I invite you to now join me over at alisonheikkila.com . I've still got some polishing up to do, and a whole lot of learning, as WordPress is completely different from Blogger, but I am really excited for this new site. I've wanted to do this for a long time, and I am happy to finally be getting it done. Bear with me as I figure out the best way to make it all look and flow. I thankfully have some help with that. But I think you
