Black Dagger Brotherhood Challenge ~ Zsadist, the Lover Awakened

It’s time for Fandom Friday again at Twilight Tuesday! This week we get to focus on Zsadist, the scary/cool Brother! There will be spoilers! Here’s what Beth wrote over at TTIC:

Zsadist’s story is told in the third Black Dagger Brotherhood book, Lover Awakened. Z is easily the most hardened of the Black Dagger Brothers. After being kidnapped from his crib, and his family (including his twin brother Phury) as an infant and sold into blood slavery, his life was irretrievably altered and his soul seemingly damaged beyond repair. Enter Bella. This is an incredibly intense story ~ and one that will run your emotions through the full spectrum.

Craft Portion: Create a project that captures the dichotomy that is Zsadist. Sociopathic killer, or damaged sensitive soul? Choose your canvas and run with it…

Comment Portion: Do you see Z as the soulless killer, or the redeemable antihero? He certainly invokes varied emotions from those around him – what do you feel when you read his story? Compare what you know of him after Awakened to the Brother we first meet in Dark Lover. Expand on this as much as you choose.

For my project, I actually came up with an idea pretty quickly. No need to go to the BDB fan site or anything!

First off, Zsadist is scarred. Pretty badly. He thinks he looks horrifying. He had an absolutely tragic life from the time he was abducted as an infant. So, there are plenty of emotional scars too. But, as his story gets told, we find that there is good inside. Not just a little either, but a lot. Bella, his shellan, brings that out in him. So does Nala later on…

I wanted this card to be masculine of course so I went with some discontinued Basic Grey and 7 Gypsies paper. I wanted the phrase to have a couple of emotions in it. “Beauty” is done with the “Twilight” font (no! I’m not kidding!) from Inkadinkado. “is on…” is from Time Flies, and it has a rougher feel to it. I used a golden color as my inspiration because Zsadist’s eyes are that color. Oh, and all the ink is from Color Box.

I loved reading Zadist’s story. I think he went through Hell and managed to come back from it. The change in him from book 1 to his own is incredible. The other Brothers seemed to fear him in Dark Lover. Whereas in Lover Awakened, they are now able to accept him and care about him. I could really go on for hours on these books so instead, why not hop over to Beth’s blog to see what awesome project she came up with! Then it’s your turn!

Mediterranean Dreams Shaker

Hello! Today I have a card that features the Mediterranean Dreams Subscription Kit from White Rose Crafts.  This fabulous Subscription Kit brings together sparkling, azure Mediterranean seas, sun-bleached shores and the rich colors of vibrant Mediterranean cultures in a carefully curated kit. I knew I just had to try the Jillibean Soup shaker card and I chose to use one of the stamps (from Kaisercraft) to make my background. I stamped the seashell with Tea Dye Distress Oxide all over the background of the card. Then I applied some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to my craft mat, spritzed it with some water, and splattered it on to my card base. Last, I inked the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Mini Blending Brush. For my sentiment, I die cut a stitched rectangle from my stash, out of the pearly yellow cardstock that came in the kit and stamped it with "Wish You Were Here" stamp from the same "Summer Splash" stamp set, with StazOn Pigment ink. Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
