Succulent Shaker Card

Hello! Thanks for visiting me today. I've got a new shaker card to share that is soft, pretty, and great for different occasions. I chose to make it a "thank you" card, but it would work great for lots of other things.  If you've been stopping by lately, you'll know that I really love Kaisercraft's " Greenhouse " collection. I've been using it quite a bit lately, because it's just beautiful. I started off by choosing a few of the Cardstock Die Cuts  and arranged them on a blank background. I then decided that I wanted to use an oval stitched die from Lawn Fawn's Magic Color Slider Die set (I use the 3 frames in that set all the time ) for my shaker window. Then I chose my coordinating patterned papers. After choosing the papers, I went through my stash of Sparkle Blends to see what I thought would work best. I actually thought I was going to use the newer Springtime Blend, but instead, I felt that Icicle was the right way to go. It ...

Copper Penny Hex Shakers

Hello Crafty Friends! Today I am sharing a shaker card using the gorgeous Copper Penny Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . But before we jump in, let me ask you....do you play along with The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge? I try to play along each time it happens, but I admittedly have a tough time completing the entire month, unfortunately. I really need to work on that! The reason I ask is because I am guessing that some of you, like me, wind up with a bunch of colored images but not a completed project. I keep an envelope of my colored images on my desk so that I can rummage through them any time I need to make something quick, or I'm not sure what I feel like working on. That's what I did with this card. This adorable kitty from Vera Lane was colored and fussy cut some time ago, but I just didn't have a chance to complete a project with him. He's part of the Quirky Zombie Couple and Cat digi set.  I colored the cat with Memento Markers ,...

Dude, Let's Celebrate

Greetings! Today I am sharing a card that features the new " Mardi Gras Parade " Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground , along with 2 of the " Sweet Treats " stamps from Stampendous.  I stamped the ice cream cone and doughnut  repeatedly all over my background with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne . Then I used Koi Watercolors to paint them. I mixed a few of the colors myself, like the pistachio ice cream and the frosting on the doughnut. That's always something I love to do, no matter the medium. I used some " Crushed Grapes " Nuvo Drops on the pistachio ice cream to add a bit of shine and dimension beyond the sequins I was going to add.  The "Mardi Gras Parade" Sparkle Blend is filled with shades of purple, green, and gold. It even has glitter sequins and day-glow sequins! As perfect as it is for Mardi Gras, don't pigeon hole it for just that purpose. It will work for many occasions. You can see some of the beautiful colors i...

Garnet Delphinium

Hello! Today I have a new card for Doodles Paper Playground . This card uses one of the newest Sparkle Blends, called " Garnet ." I'm a January baby, so I really love this blend of reds, pinks, and lavender. I chose to stamp a lovely Delphinium stamp from Stampendous, and I heat embossed it in in white on white cardstock. I looked through the Garnet Sparkle Blend to see what colors I wanted to pull from it. I chose a few Tombow markers that coordinated and scribbled them on to my craft mat. I spritzed the colors with a little water and dipped the heat embossed image into the ink. I dipped and dried the cardstock a couple of times to build up the layers of color, but I had to be careful of the embossed image. This technique is quick and really lovely. It can also be done with lots of products beyond the Tombow markers. You can use Zig markers, Distress Inks or Oxides, etc. For my sentiment, I used the Painted Hello die from Simon Says stamp, and I die cut it 3 t...

Juniper Berries Sparkle Blend

Greetings! My favorite Sparkle Blend from the newest release of Doodles Paper Playground is Juniper Berries . It's made up of shades of purple and teal, which are my favorite colors. There are also soft greens, fantastic blue squares, and silver glitter sequins in the Blend. I believe this has become the fast favorite of the design team! I let the colors of Juniper Berries guide me though the making of this card. I wanted to do something with flowers, so I chose to use the Vintage Flowers stamps and dies from Altenew . I used a variety of Memento and VersaMagic inks from Imagine to ink up the flowers and foliage. The flowers used Aspen Mist VersaMagic, Sweet Plum, Grape Jelly, and Elderberry Memento . The leaves used Niagara Mist VersaMagic and Cottage Ivy Memento. For my top layer, I applied Antique Linen and Iced Spruce Distress Oxides to my craft mat. I spritzed them with water and dipped my cardstock in a few times, heat setting the colors between dips. I love the...

Hex Yeah!

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that I made my son for his birthday. He loves shaker cards, so I knew I wanted to go in that direction.  I actually used 4 Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground on this card. One of them is Copper Penny from the new release. And I finally have the Hex Yeah  stamps and dies  from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs, that I knew he would think was cool. I made 4 shaker windows using the 2 hexagon dies in the set. I actually kept them attached so that I didn't have to worry about measuring the distance between them. Once I laid out my first set (the top 2), I rotated the hexagons so that the little one would sit in where I just die cut it. This allowed me to cut a larger one with the proper spacing. I repeated this with the larger hexagon to cut the final little guy. As I mentioned, I used Copper Penny Sparkle Blend in the upper left hexagon, followed by Peacock Pizzaz , Be Leaf in Yourself , and last but not least, Breakfast at ...

Hello! It's time for another new release hop with Doodles Paper Playground!  We've got 6 new blends to share with you, and I, together with the rest of the Doodles Paper Playground Design Team, have joined forces with Gail Tasker--you may know her as Ionabunny --our guest designer for the months of December and January! And yes, there are prizes to be won! Be sure to go to the bottom of this post to find out how you can win! Here's my card. Today is my daughter's 10th birthday. Double digits!!! I had to user some Sparkle Blends for her birthday card, of course. This lovely Blend is called Icicle. It's frosty and sweet and she loves it. Although truthfully, she loves ALL of the Sparkle Blends! I just bought a die set from Avery Elle which apparently is old, because I can't seem ...

Black & White with Aurora Wings

Hello! It's time for a new challenge with Aurora Wings. This month, we challenge you to create a black and white project, with or without a splash of color. I happen to love coloring in images in grayscale, so this was really inspiring for me. I decided to work with Mitzi's Jasmine Sprite. You can shop for here using these links: PNG File on Main Website JPEG on Main Website Etsy Shop Here's a look at my card.

Let's Party!

Greetings! Today I am sharing the card I made for my son's 11th birthday. He loves Lawn Fawn critters just like I do, and I recently purchased a couple of sets that I knew I had to use for him. Needless to say, he loved the card. I am playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which has the theme of  Party . I am also entering this card into the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge which is Use Your Favorite Lawn Fawn Set. Seriously, is this a party or what? I used stamps from Party Animal  and  Forest Feast . Forest Feast is my current favorite set. But that keeps changing, because I love them all so much! I knew that the tree stump stamp would be the perfect table for a grand party. The hardest part was figuring out who the Guest of Honor was going to be, and I think this little chick stepped up to the plate nicely (pun intended). I stamped all of the images with VersaFine ink in Onyx Black on Canson Mixed Media Paper, with the exception of the stump,...

Blossom Breeze

Hello! I have been really enjoying playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenges (they have such an INCREDIBLE Design Team!), and this week was no different. The challenge is " All Creatures Great and Small ." So I decided to use a House Mouse stamp. Because of that, I am also entering it into this week's House Mouse & Friends Challenge . I'll be using it for the "Anything Goes" side of their challenge. This is Blossom Breeze , and I colored it with my Zig Clean Color Markers on Canson Mixed Media Paper. It's been pretty bluster on Long Island this past week, so I thought this was a great stamp to use. Because there is a lot happening within the image, I kept the rest of my card simple. I used some shades of blue and a little green cardstock from My Colors, and added a stripe of Tear It! Tape from Imagine down the side and coated it with Burgundy Glitter . That's it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an ins...

You are Fantastic

Greetings! I have a new card to share with you today...one featuring one of the new Simon Says Stamp exclusive STAMPtember sets, Amazing Messages. I will be using this card in the latest Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge , which is "Stamp It." They asked if participants could use SSS Exclusive products, though it isn't a requirement. Since Simon Says Stamp gave me the Amazing Messages stamp set to help promote STAMPtember, I am excited to be be sharing this card with you today. I started off by inking up the "Fantastic" stamp with VersaFine ink on to Canson Mixed Media Paper. I love to use this paper for my watercolor markers, so I colored the image up with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. I cut the image out, leaving a bit of a white border around it. If you've been visiting my blog or my Instagram lately, you will know that I am head over heels with making Magic Color Slider cards with Lawn Fawn's unique die. The die set comes with 3 shapes th...

You are So Amazing!

Greetings! I am very excited t be participating in this year's Stamptember from Simon Says Stamp . I was given a free set of new and exclusive stamps to work with, and what a fun set it is! It's called Amazing Messages and I will be using it quite a bit. My children will too. In fact, my daughter used the set before I had a chance to. ;) I'll be sharing her card within the next couple of days. *This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. I stamped the image on to Canson Mixed Media Paper with VersaFine ink in Onyx Black. I colored it in with Zig Clean Color Markers  and cut out the image with a loose border. I tend to color things without thinking much about the completed project. I typically just let loose and color, and then find out what works to finish it all up later. This card is no different. After I colored the image in these sort of sun set colors, I knew I had to break out my Distress Oxide inks and create a similar look with them. Also on Can...

Owl Galaxy

Hello! Today, I have a card to share that I made for the latest Simon Says Stamp Challenge , which is Anything Goes. They are featuring Hero Arts this week, so I wanted to show them off a bit as well too. This post contains affiliate links, at no cost to you. I used Dreams May Come from Hero Arts for my card. I love this pretty set. I started off by making my background on watercolor paper with Distress Oxide Inks. I used Black Soot , Salty Ocean , Wild Honey , and Worn Lipstick . I blended the bright colors first with my Ink Blending Tools , and then went over them with the Black Soot. To make it really look like a sky, I splattered Wedding Dress irRESISTables , and Golden Glitz Delicata Reinker  from Imagine all over the background. The little "stars" the splatters create really make the galaxy come to life. Next I stamped out the images with VersaMark ink, and I heat embossed them with Detail White Embossing Powder  from Stampendous. My card base was made out of ...
