Same Card, 2 Color Palettes

Hello and welcome back! Today I am sharing 2 cards that have the same composition, but in totally different color palettes. I have been having a great time playing with the Simply Celebrate stamp set from Lawn Fawn and I thought it would be fun to play with different color combinations. When making cards that have the same layout, it's really helpful to use a stamp positioning tool. This way, you can recreate the projects quickly and easily, while taking out a lot of the guesswork. The first version I created used cool tones, which I tend to gravitate towards, so these colors came easily to me. I colored both of the card's stamped images with Zig Clean Color Markers. Coloring those balloons was a lot of fun! For the inked stripes at the bottom of this card, I used ScrapBerry's Blue , Green , and Pink Stains Ink. My base is a deep orchid purple. No extra embellishments used here, as I thought the card made enough of a statement without the extra "stuff." ...

Happy Birthday Tag

Hello! This week, the Stampendous Team is having a "Birthday Bash" theme. I thought it would be fun to kick it off with a tag that can be used to put on a gift. This is a very quick project, but it has a lot of impact. My instructions are below. Supplies: Stampendous : POPST03AFR: Happy Birthday Stamp Set Other : Imagine: VersaFine Ink in Onyx Black Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens: 020, 026, 031, 032, 041, 043, 050, 051, 052, 070 Staples: White Tag Purple Ribbon Stamp Positioner Directions: 1. Using a stamp positioner, stamp the "Happy" 4 times on the tag with VersaFine ink. The stamp positioner helps to have correct spacing between the words. 2. Stamp the "Birthday" at the bottom center of the tag. 3. Color the letters using the marker colors listed above; 2 colors per letter. 4. Attach a ribbon through the hole in the tag. Super fast, right? You can do this simple repetitive technique with many of your existing stamps, I'm...

Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Hello! I am excited to be participating in a very special Birthday Bash Blog Hop starting today, Thursday, January 24th, 2019 and ending at 11:59pm EST on Sunday, January 27, 2019! The Designing Divas and I, along with several members of the talented White Rose Crafts design team, will be creating extra special Birthday Themed Shaker Cards for the hop today! In addition, my project for today also work's with this week's White Rose Crafts theme, which is "Water Activated Inks." Please be sure to read through the bottom of my post for details on a Freebie Sparkle Blend, free shipping, and all of the Hop links. Here's my card. I was inspired by the Tim Holtz " Blueprint Assortment " stamp set. I've had it for a while, but never got around to using it. And I thought this hop, along with the WRC theme was the perfect opportunity . I decided to go with the "Conversation Hearts" Sparkle Blend, because of the wide range of colors in it. Ther...

Hex Yeah!

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that I made my son for his birthday. He loves shaker cards, so I knew I wanted to go in that direction.  I actually used 4 Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground on this card. One of them is Copper Penny from the new release. And I finally have the Hex Yeah  stamps and dies  from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs, that I knew he would think was cool. I made 4 shaker windows using the 2 hexagon dies in the set. I actually kept them attached so that I didn't have to worry about measuring the distance between them. Once I laid out my first set (the top 2), I rotated the hexagons so that the little one would sit in where I just die cut it. This allowed me to cut a larger one with the proper spacing. I repeated this with the larger hexagon to cut the final little guy. As I mentioned, I used Copper Penny Sparkle Blend in the upper left hexagon, followed by Peacock Pizzaz , Be Leaf in Yourself , and last but not least, Breakfast at ...

Birthday Bash

Hello! My husband's birthday was at the end of April, and he loves when I make shaker cards. So, I knew I had to make one for him using one of the latest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground . I decided to go with the Birthday Bash Sparkle Blends, because he loves bright, bold colors and because...well....it is a birthday card. ;) In this blend, you'll find red, green, purple, blue, and gold sequins. Some are in the shape of balloons! There are also little stars and microbeads. This is definitely a party in a shaker!  Beyond being inspired by Birthday Bash, I had just gotten Altenew's Bells and Bows Stamp Set , and I just had to use that awesome large bow that's in the set. I stamped 3 of the 4 layers using inks from Imagine. Doesn't it look real?! My papers are from DCWV, and they have fun metallic turquoise accents on them, which I thought really worked with the Sparkle Blend. If you click on my photo, you can see what's in the shaker a lit...

Let's Party!

Greetings! Today I am sharing the card I made for my son's 11th birthday. He loves Lawn Fawn critters just like I do, and I recently purchased a couple of sets that I knew I had to use for him. Needless to say, he loved the card. I am playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which has the theme of  Party . I am also entering this card into the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge which is Use Your Favorite Lawn Fawn Set. Seriously, is this a party or what? I used stamps from Party Animal  and  Forest Feast . Forest Feast is my current favorite set. But that keeps changing, because I love them all so much! I knew that the tree stump stamp would be the perfect table for a grand party. The hardest part was figuring out who the Guest of Honor was going to be, and I think this little chick stepped up to the plate nicely (pun intended). I stamped all of the images with VersaFine ink in Onyx Black on Canson Mixed Media Paper, with the exception of the stump,...

Itsy Bitsy Background

Hello! I have a "sweet" card to share with you today. This month, the Artists in Residence for Imaging were challenged with the theme "Itsy Bitsy." This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. I decided to focus on using the teeny stamps found in many stamp sets. In my case, I used Lawn Fawn's Baked with Love and Love 'N Breakfast. I added a bunch of the little stamps to an acrylic block in an arrangement that I liked and I inked them up with VersaFine in Onyx Black. I stamped an entire background piece of Bristol paper with these stamps, slightly turning the block as I went along. I wound up with only a few "holes" so I went in with a single stamp and filled in those empty areas. Then I heat embossed the background. I stamped 4 cupcakes on to Mixed Media Paper and colored them with Memento Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I decided to make the cupcakes stand out more, so I used 2 circle punches and layered ...

Smeared Ink Reunion Blog Hop!

Hello Guys and Ghouls! I am so stoked for today's Smeared Ink Reunion Blog Hop. Smeared & Smudged (as the group was called) was one of the reasons I made so many online friends, inspired me to make many of my dark and creepy projects, and was the 2nd DT I was ever on. So many stamps....so many memories. Terra, owner and founder decided it was high time for a reunion hop, so I absolutely had to play along. I'll be honest, my crafting time really diminished in the past couple of weeks, and my delusions of grandeur were shattered. So my project isn't over the top, but it is very Smeared. I decided that since this hop is a little virtual party, I decided to use one of the fabulous little Grumpies. This guy with the party hat is too funny. I started off by  stamping him with VersaFine Ink and coloring him in with Memento Markers, both from Imagine on a piece of Smooth Bristol cardstock. I inked around the image and distressed the edges a bit. Originally this guy was ...
