Love is Love with Nathalie Kalbach and Friends

The Stampendous team is showcasing the fabulous stamps and stencils from Nathalie Kalbach this week, and some of Nathalie's friends have been joining us. There are 3 prize packaages up for grabs, and anyone can win! Visit the Stampendous Blog for full details.

I have been thinking a lot about the recent tragedy to the LGBT community in Orlando, and I decided to use Nathalie's Urban Scribble set for today's project.

I started off with the foam stamp (the blank side) and colored a rainbow on it using my Tombow Dual Brush markers. I sprayed the foam stamp with a little water to re-wet the colors, and get some nice splotches. I applied the stamp, then I went back with the detail stamp and inked it up with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Then, using the stencil that comes in the Urban Scribble set, plus the Picasso tool, I stenciled some pixelated clouds in the background. I hand wrote "Love is Love."

I decided to not make this a card..but rather some wall art. I cut a big mat out of watercolor paper and sprayed a super-duper rainbow all over it with Dylusions sprays. I originally intended to go more mixed media with this project, but I really loved the color play from the sprays, and I decided to leave the background be.

I don't want to go on a pedestal and start preaching, but please just try to look past skin color, sexual orientation, and whatever other judgments you may pass on others. We are all human, we all deserve to love and be loved. Below are the rest of the folks hopping today. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Gorgeous! I love the cityscape more & more every time I see it.
Love your last comment about love. I'm the type of person who just accepts people for who they are and don't judge. I think that's why I get along with everyone. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone could find it in themselves to do that. Have a beautiful day!

I love your wall art piece!! I totally agree about loving each other regardless of orientation, color, race or if you don't like chocolate (well maybe that can't be overlooked). If more people remembered this the world would be a happier place with less crime and hatred! TFS!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelliā€™s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next ā€œTarot Card.ā€ Haha! Thatā€™s actually pretty funny! If youā€™ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. Iā€™ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Donā€™t worryā€¦itā€™s actually a joyful imageā€¦one that I intend to use a lot! First, hereā€™s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...
