I Love You S'More

Hello! For November, the Imagine Color of the Month is Cocoa. Yum! The color is rich and smooth, and immediately I think of how delicious chocolate can be. So I decided to make a card with food imagery. More specifically, S'mores. I used Lawn Fawn's Love You S'more stamps and Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa for almost all of my stamping. I like to use this color as a soft substitute for black. The S'mores were colored in with only a couple of Memento Markers. I used Lady Bug for the hearts and added a bit of White Gelly Roll for some faux shine. There's a curved line in the Love You S'more set, and that's what I used on the sides. They were stamped with Delicata Ink in Dark brown Shimmer. I thought they made a fun border. I also inked my edges a bit to ground the card a bit. This card came together really quickly, which is great because sometimes you just need to put a fast card together. It's also really nice to step away from black and use...

Love is Love with Nathalie Kalbach and Friends

The Stampendous team is showcasing the fabulous stamps and stencils from Nathalie Kalbach this week, and some of Nathalie's friends have been joining us. There are 3 prize packaages up for grabs, and anyone can win! Visit the Stampendous Blog for full details. I have been thinking a lot about the recent tragedy to the LGBT community in Orlando, and I decided to use Nathalie's Urban Scribble set for today's project. I started off with the foam stamp (the blank side) and colored a rainbow on it using my Tombow Dual Brush markers. I sprayed the foam stamp with a little water to re-wet the colors, and get some nice splotches. I applied the stamp, then I went back with the detail stamp and inked it up with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Then, using the stencil that comes in the Urban Scribble set, plus the Picasso tool, I stenciled some pixelated clouds in the background. I hand wrote "Love is Love." I decided to not make this a card..but rather some ...

Fun with Fireworks!

Fireworks! are fun to spritz, but there are other things you can do with them. My project today will give you some examples. Directions: 1. I started off with 2 coordinating stencils- a background, patterned stencil, and a singular large image stencil. In this case, it was a heart. I taped down my watercolor paper(only on top, to create a hinge), then the background stencil, and then my heart stencil.  2. Grab your Fireworks spray and let’s get spritizing! But wait! Don’t spray your stencils. This time, we are going to spray our Craft Mat and use sponge daubers to apply the color. Make sure you shake up your Fireworks! before you spray them on to your craft mat.         3. Using your sponge daubers, start to apply the colors to the watercolor paper.  Fireworks! dry quickly, so you will want to work fast, but you can always go back and apply more to blend the colors better. I had my tape set up as a hinge so that I can peek underne...

TTIC #43 A Love Song for Bella and Edward

It’s time for another Twilight Tuesday Challenge! This week, my Book Buddy Beth created it; and it’s a good one. Here’s what she wrote: I love music! I relate just about everything I hear in songs to something. I just breathe it in – I FEEL it! So my challenge is going to draw on that. I challenge you to think about the Saga as a whole, and then to decide in retrospect, what Edward and Bella’s song should be. It can be a song about a particular part of their relationship, or their journey as a whole. Be prepared to explain!! This IS a variation of a prior challenge, so I ask that you try and go in a different direction if you participated previously! This will take some thought before project ideas even come into play – I better go start studying my iPod now… Challenge Portion: Choose a song. Explain why it should be theirs. Share lyrics that are particularly poignant, if you can. Create a project scrapbook layout around this song. Comment Portion: Do you have a theme song? One that...

TTIC #25

This week, Twilight Tuesday has a 2 part challenge. One is to create a project showcasing what you love about Twilight (sorry gals... no time for that this week!). The other is to discuss what Twilight has meant to us. I have so many things I could write about here. Of course, my favorite scene is the meadow. I love Alice. The relationship between Bella and her dad holds a special, envious, place in my heart. So many things meant something to me... from just one little book. But, I think I will discuss Chapter 11: Complications. I just loved when Edward asked Bella everything from her favorite color to which flowers she likes best. This part is special to me because it reminds me of when my husband and I just started going out so many years ago. That was us. Talking. Question after question. Discussion after discussion. Delving deeper into each other's souls further than we ever had with someone before. I think deeper than I had with myself before! I remember my face hurting at th...
