Day 5 of 31 Days of Halloween, Plus a New Dilly Beans Challenge!

It's Friday! And it's October. So, that means I have 2 projects to share with you...both from Dilly Beans (can you tell I LOVE being on this Design Team?!). The first is for this week's challenge, which is "Pink and Purple."

I used Lulu Framed for this card. She was a blast to color! I love her curly hair...and all of those stripes.

I used watercolor markers and a couple of Copics for Lulu. This is another one of Dilly Bean's "Big Eye Girls  that I love so much.

I used a Crafter's Workshop with ink for the pink polka dots and the swirly background. I hope you will play along with our challenge this week! Visit the Dilly Beans Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the DT has done.
Now...on to the 31 Days of Halloween with Smeared & Smudged! If you are new to the 31 Days, we are also able to make projects for the Day of the Dead. Which is what I've chosen to share with you today. Again, this is another Dilly Beans image. She's called "Day of the Dead Frida."

If you frequent my blog, you will know that one of my new favorite things to make are decorated travertine tiles. They are a blast to do, and it's inexpensive. I just loved making this, and I plan on making a set of 4 different tiles. You'll see the other tiles later in the month.

You can see some of the lovely natural pitting of the tile underneath the image,  and I love that. This coaster is water resistant, so it's really a functioning piece of art.

Do I really need to tell you how much fun I had coloring her? Nah, I didn't think so. If you don't have any Dilly Beans images, I highly recommend you get some, because they are all amazing! Now, it's time for you to keep hopping! The entire Wicked Blogger list is on my side bar. Thanks for stopping by. Have a creep-tastic day!

Wow! This is so cool! The coloring is superb - loved the colors you used. Got a question though- how did you get a digital image onto the tile? I'm trying something similar and haven't figured it out yet.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
