The Evermore Collection

Greetings and salutations! Today I have a couple of projects featuring the Simply B Stamps' Evermore Collection, which just became available in rubber, as well as in digi form.  These images are from the same artist that created the Original SteampunksClassic Collection Steampunks,  Steampunk Halloween, and the Steampunk Romance Collection. All of these images are so detailed and beautiful, anything that you make with them will look amazing!
Speaking of detail....some folks out there may be a bit overwhelmed by how much detail is in these images. Or, perhaps you are short on time, but you need to make something fabulous. Allow me to give you a way to ease your coloring anxiety and/or speed up the process a bit. I give you...The Halloween Queen.....

As you can see, this image has a whole lot going on. But I chose to focus on just a small area. I simply took a cup and, in pencil, drew a circle where I wanted to color. Then I went to town. Here's a close up.

I used a trifecta of coloring mediums here. Watercolor markers, Copics, and pencils! Oh pencils, how I've missed you....Using this spotlight technique, really makes your image come to life. It draws your eye right to that important spot, and if you're careful to stay within your circle (or any other shape for that matter), it looks so cool.

This is definitely a time saving technique too. I got this image colored so quickly...yet because of the technique, it doesn't look rushed. I did add a bit of Antique Linen Distress Ink to the white spots of the image, just so that the white wasn't so stark. I am entering this card into the Poisoned Peas Please challenge of Wicked Stepmother. Perhaps the Halloween Queen IS the wicked stepmother, writing out a potion or incantation to rid herself of the beautiful step daughter she was forced to adopt. Or, perhaps it is the other way around, and this lovely girl is writing to long lost family, in hopes of escaping the wrath of her wicked step mother. I'll let YOU decide how this tale is told. And now, on to Amarantha Reading...

Isn't she fabulous??? And she's reading Poe! I wonder what....Could it be The Black Cat? The Tell Tale Heart? Perhaps The Fall of the House of Usher... I always liked that one. No matter what she is reading, at least it is Poe. I chose to go with fairly bright colors for this one...though the urge was certainly pulling for me to go dark. But, I rather like how it's turned out. I especially love the hands pulling at the bottom of the circle.

I stuck with just my 2 types of markers for this image. My sentiment is from Smeared Ink. My border punch is from Martha Stewart. Purple paper from DCWV.

I cannot get enough of the images from this artist. I love every one of the images done in this style. I hope to have some more of them colored up soon. I certainly have many of them printed out! Be sure to visit the SBS Blog to see what some of the other gals on the DT have created with this collection. Plus, the digis are on sale right now! All of the deets are on the blog. So hurry on over! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
