Macabre Monday 101: Kreepy Kids

There was no way I wasn’t going to play along with this week’s challenge over at Haunted Design House! It’s all about Kreepy Kids! And I’ve always said that Rhiannon is a demon. But…in this case, she’s more of a zombie. You may remember back in October THIS POST. Oh. That was a great one! And I am so obsessed with the photo I used in it, that I just needed to use it again. And I am quite sure you will see it pop up for more! Here’s the original picture.

Picture 198

Just on it’s own…it’s creepy…don’tcha think? Well…I took it to the next level via Picnik. Here’s what I did. Yeah…I did it! Me! All by myself! The photoshop-phobe did this! ;)

Zombi Rhi

Creep-tastic! If I do say so myself. There are a lot of folks that are totally creeped out by this picture. I happen to love it. The original and this zombie version. I even have the original sitting on my craft room desk.

Now obviously, since I already used this photo, I needed to make a new project for the HDH challenge. So I decided to put my little zombie girl into a frame that I altered.

Rhiannon is looking a little washed out here. But in real “life” (or death…as it were) she is as green as in the photo above. Yummy! So I used a plethora of stamps for this fame, and globs of glorious paint. All of my stamps are from Inkadinkado (those little dollar ones you find in bins at the craft store), except for the red splatter stamps. That’s from Smeared Ink. I embossed them with a deep red to make ‘em shiny and goopy looking.

I had started off by painting my cheapo $1 frame with gray paint. Then I smeared on some Peeled Paint Distress Ink. A few spritzes of Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist, and then I went to town with my stamps. I get so caught up in making cards, that I forget sometimes how much I absolutely adore altering things like frames and boxes. I really need to try to make more, because I have such a blast.

Seriously, how great are all of those stamps?! I am so glad I nabbed ‘em when I did!

And let me not forget to mention the bit of altering I did to the photo itself after I printed it. For some dumb reason, I didn’t print it as a full 4x6 photo. And I didn’t want to give it a traditional mat. So I decided to go in with my alcohol inks and blob away at the fugly white edge. Then, I stamped a fantastic stitched border to 2 sides. Voila! Stoopid white is gone. Scary-ass Rhi takes center stage.

I hope you liked my little project! And my little girl zombie! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
